Was curious how much people are moving steel on each attempt at "unbending"/ breaking steel. I've started a breaking session each week since reading Dave's post. I found today, with a 5.5" grade 5 bolt, that with each attempt at opening up the ends it was moving approx 1". I was able to move the steel much more braced in the past, but am trying the stricter non-bracing breaking style.

hey bud long time no see :D when i was breaking bolts i found that the harder i closed the bolt in a gripper fashion using my other hand the faster it would break and it opened about an inch and 1/2 but that was a 6 inch bolt i guess the shorter it is the harder it is to pull apart .good luck bending and breaking
