FrankyBoy
Very nice! Did you do any bending before? Gave it a try tonight and bent it first try ←
GatorGrip
Way to go and congratulations on your significant bend may it be just the tip of the steel iceberg for you. Now onward and upward to a piece that’s shorter, thicker, higher grade and Hot or Cold rolled. GatorGrip

EricMilfeld
Excellent! You'll want to try some various brands of 60D nails now.
jomcgui
Tup thats my next step. I have some 60d timber ties that so far have eluded me. Barely kinking. BTW do you cut the head and pointed ends off before bending real nails?
GatorGrip
Either way you choose to bend those 60d nails are fine but to make the transition from one nail to another go quicker use pre-wrapping the wraps and using a rubber band to secure the role tight. You must cut the head off nail head to gain the maximum benefit from pre-wraps as it will not require you to re-wrap that end every time. This method allows you to get several bends out of the wraps without having to stop and re-warp the nails, you just bend one, pull it out and slide in another headless 60 and proceed to U-shape the next victim. Secondly by cutting both the head and point off close you will lengthen the life of your wraps and maybe even lesson the pain level and it definitely lowers the risk of the nails point puncturing the wrap and injuring your hand. Hope this helps a little! Edited May 11, 2005 by GatorGrip
