Andy
Here are the results of the British Iron Grip Championships 2005. If you're wondering why the left and right hand weights don't add up to the total, it's because these results were taken off the spreadsheet which adds the apparatus weight to the total at the end. All weights are in kilogrammes. Jim Wylie 518.052 points Steve Gardener 507.719 " Andy Christie 444.933 " Dave Smith 391.171 " Chris Williams 382.454 " Grippers Jim Wylie L=2.46 R=3.29 T=5.75 Steve Gardener L=2.46 R=3.65 T=6.11 Andy Christie L=2.25 R=2.76 T=5.01 Dave Smith L=2.06 R=2.06 T=4.12 Chris Williams L=2.06 R=2.25 T=4.31 2-Hand Pinch Jim Wylie 85 Steve Gardener 81 Andy Christie 71 Dave Smith 81 Chris Williams 65 Vertical bar Jim Wylie L=140 R=160 T=301.5 Steve Gardener L=132.5 =130 T=264 Andy Christie L=130 R=130 T=261.5 Dave Smith L=90 R=95 T=186.5 Chris Williams L=100 R=100 T= 201.5 1-Hand Lift Jim Wylie L=232.5 R=240 T=475.23 Steve Gardener L=220 R=220 T=442.73 Andy Christie L=210 R=210 T=422.73 Dave Smith L=200 R=180 T=382.73 Chris Williams L=210 R=200 T=412.73 Rolling Thunder (Thumbless) Jim Wylie L=90 R=103 T=194.6 Steve Gardener L=100 R=110 T=211.6 Andy Christie L=80 R=80 T=161.6 Dave Smith L=65 R=70 T=136.6 Chris Williams L=60 R=65 T=126.

Mikael Siversson
Well done Jim and everyone else competing! Looks like it was close between you and Steve. Very impressive right hand gripper performance by Steve, closing that BBSE. This gripper would be very close to a MM3 replica. Big v-bar numbers again by Jim, only a few k's from his 163.8k WR. Good thing I did not compete in this comp, as I would have made myself look like a fool in the thumbless RT. Very strong lifting there by both Jim and Steve. Good v-bar results by Andy as well. The question now is how much Jim can gain by actually training a bit as well for the Euro? Steve should be able improve as well if he can heal from his injuries. What happened to Dean Bolt? FrankyBoy
Congrats to Jim for taking the win. Very impressive numbers. Especially that SE close of Steve and the vbar lifts of Jim!!
jimwylie1
It was a good contest. Andy did a very good job of organisaing the event - everything seemed to go very smoothly . It was pretty close between me and Steve towards the end. He ended up going for some big rolling thunder lifts towards the end of the comp in a bid to clinch the win. jimwylie1
Congrats to Jim for taking the win.Very impressive numbers. Especially that SE close of Steve and the vbar lifts of Jim!! ← Steve is very strong on the grippers. He closed the SE with virtually no set then went on to take my #4 down to 1/8" after the competition. Steve has borrowed the gripper for a while. I expect to see it closed in thevery near future . Andy's v bar had very little seasoning which made the v bar harder. No excuses though - my left has been down of late. The fact that we only have three attempts in the British also makes it hard to achieve big numbers in competition.

Digdogz
What can I say? This was the first grip comp I have been to and I will most definetly be going to others! First a big thanks to Andy, who was the perfect host. His organisation made the whole event a relaxed yet competative affair. The competition between Steve and Jim was close all the way through and I honestly don't believe I have ever seen two stronger dudes....As Jim mentioned, after all the events were done I saw Mobster get real close on the #4, pick it up, wrap it in his mitts and squeeze with strength that to me has to have a special mention. It was great to see other grip addicts all in one place and I was inspired by the levels of power I saw. (Randy - 15 years old, stronger than you would believe, some massive numbers on the thumbless Rolling thunder!!) All in all Me and mine had a great day out and were all inspired to have a proper go next comp and get in on the act. Well done Jim and Steve. Great competitors and all round nice guys. Andy thanks again and good on you for your friendly approach to the whole affair. I'm in training as of now! Diggory, Adam and Jim.

mobsterone
Literally just back from the weekend and what site do I look at first.... THIS ONE!!! Many thanks to all concerned esp Andy who lifted and did most if not all of the setting up and breaking down. As was said I was and am still injured and only after the comp was over did I take a look at the spreadsheet and saw, almost without exception that my numbers were down right across the board with grippers the only movement not affected by my back/sciatica in any way. I'm gonna do a full right up on my own forum and copy and paste it here later. I was disappointed to have lost but Jim is strong, wasn't injured and so deserve to win on the day. Be warned though Mr Wylie - next year, neat year...

Jedd Johnson
Very impressive results. Thumbless RT is a pain in the wrist for me! Jim, way to come out on top. No surprise that Steve is up there, ragardless of injury or not! Awesome job guys. -Jedd-
Mikael Siversson
Andy, In the v-bar, did you forget to add the weight of the bar to both lifts for the total? I assume that for example your 130+130 was the result excluding the weight of the bar (1.5k) and that your total should be 263 rather than 261.5k.
