Pinch practice

Recommended Posts

The other day when doing back exercises on the Nautilus

Torso Arm machine (the one where you grab parallel handles

and pull until your hands are next to your shoulders) I

noticed that if the handles were bypassed, a grip could be

secured on the flat, wide metal to which the handles attach!

Similar in size to a 2 x 4 piece of wood but of course smooth.

By pinching this flat metal and pulling down a rafter pullup

is imitated. Problem is, if your grip fails the weights come

crashing down, so I looped a towel over over handle as a

safety catch, and did not pull with that hand, leaving slack

in the towel, then used the other hand to pinch/pull.

Onlookers are perplexed, but then we are a strange group,

we grippers.
