I have the 2005 #3. It is much harder than the BBSM. I want a gripper that is imbetween the BBSM and the 2005 #3. Is there such a thing?

Well, for one thing if you think you may not want to purchase another gripper at the moment, you can microload on the BBSM by simply filing little by little. Once you can close it with a certain amount filed off, then file more until you can close that. When I file my grippers I like to file about 1/8" off one handle (the handle that my four fingers go on) and work my way to eventually being able to file roughly almost half of one of the handles off (that is alot though!). However, if you really want another gripper, then you could get a BBGM with a handle spread of 2.75". I bought my BBGM directly from Warren Tetting and it is a little easier than my 2004 and 2005 #3's.

or.... you can put a spring on the BBSM, also know as the JAG!

exactly, why waste a perfectly good gripper by filing it when you can just put jag on it? give it a shot.

What about the grand master?  Even though the springs are the same size, I have read that it is easier than the CoC #3.

From my experience the BBGM IS EASIER than my newer #3's. And by the way, there is nothing wrong with filing your grippers IF IT MAKES YOU STRONGER. Many people file their grippers to train beyond the range AND IT DOES WORK. If you want to get strong then file your grippers, if you want a gripper to just look "pretty" then go and buy a gripper from Robert Baraban. ;)

I agree, there is nothing wrong with filing a gripper. However, I don't have a problem with ordering another gripper. Ironorr, how much easier is the gm than the 2005 #3?

I would say that my BBGM is roughly 10-20 lbs. weaker than my newer #3's, but grippers do vary as you may know already. If you want to be extra accurate about getting a gripper perfectly in between the BBSM and 2005 #3 then you can have Warren Tetting custom make a BBGM with a handle spread of 2 5/8". This will take 1/8" off the spread and will be noticed when closing. However, I would believe that a BBGM with a standard spread of 2 3/4" is still easier than any newer #3 because most of the newer ones that I have seen have 3" handle spreads which makes the sweep that much more difficult.

Erik is right.

A Grand Master with a 2 5/8 spread should match your needs.

Give Warren a call and order a custom.
