Newspaper training

Does anyone do what Dan Hodge did? He got half a sheet of newspaper & bunched it up with a couple fingers & squashed it in his hand. He did that until he couldn't stand it anymore & said that's what he did to get killer hand strength.

I read somewhere about him or another athlete doing that and tried it a few times. Haven't done in over a year or more though. I remember it seemed like a deceptively easy exercise at first, but it really worked the hands as the newspaper balled up and you had to squeeze tighter and tighter.

Think I'll go back to it and start incorparating it. Also a very cheap exercise, equipment wise. One sunday paper might last you a month of workouts.

This is an old technique that has some value. Have you

noticed how much easier it is to roll up into a ball a page

of the comics, and how difficult, a page of editorials?

Does this also mean that the business section will be harder to crush due to the weight of the current recession and Enron dibacle?

And on the subject of training with paper, why not keep all the junk credit card offers you get every weeek, at least one a day it seems, tape them together in a stack and practise your tearing skills. Cheaper than a deck of cards  :D
