burner
Just a quick question fellas..........I'm curious about my hub lifting technique. I got a 45lb plate over my head yesterday for the first time but the plates I use have short hubs. I actually only make contact with my thumb, the side of my middle finger and the tip of my index finger.is this acceptable?. I know I have to do it in both hands to get on the list, I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. Thanks, Burner
Steve B.
I believe it's anyway you can lift it with one hand.Obviously just finger tips are harder.I like to wrap my fingers around the hub.Kind of like crushing the end of a pipe with your hand. Dude
Do you guys only use York plates? We have Ivanko's here at the college gym and they seem to be tapered, I can barely get a 10 off the floor.
Jedd Johnson
Show me a video and I will make a decision for the list. No - Yorks do not have to be used. -Jedd-
Dude
Yea what I meant was are the Yorks tapered on a slant like my plates are or are they straight down. Also, how tall is the hub, the available room to pinch it? Thanks

Dude
Ok cool, gotta find myself some Yorks then. The hub lifter thing I saw Ironmind sells, is that the same height, width, etc, as a normal hub?
Jedd Johnson
Our yorks are tapered. -Jedd-
maidenfan
I'd be curious to this also as using the edges of the ring and pinky fingers make the lift much easier for me.
