60d In Metric?

Recommended Posts

Another question from a metric guy. I finally seem to be grasping some of this bending stuff, thanks to this board. Anyway, I couldn't find the answer to this question with the search function:

What am I looking for in Europe when I am looking for a 60d nail?

Rolf

6 inches long or 150 millimeters.(this is usually the same as a 60d,but some are thicker than other).

Some nails in europe are 7 inches long or 175 millimeters.

They are both usually 6-7 millimeters thick.

Thanks, Gazza! As far as my net searching I've managed to find nails up to 200 mm long, but even they are only 5.5 mm thick...

Gazza,

I'm in Finland. Thank you for your offer. I'll see what I can find first. :)

I buy the 6 inch bright nails from B & Q, they are normally sold in 1 kg bags so you get plenty.

Do you have an equivalent 'do it yourself' store in finland?

Zpf,

Yep, we have a lot of DIY stores *), but they mostly have just small nails. I do know specialist stores that sell long nails near my place but none of them seem to have them thicker than 5.5 mm. I think I'll start with those, they should be enough of a challenge for me. I can get bright 5.5x200 mm nails for 1.22 €/kg and bright 5.1x150 mm nails for 1.16 €/kg.

*) One shop is even called Teesi, which is short for "tee se itse" (do it yourself). :tongue

If you find the nails a bit easy to bend, you could invest in a pair of bolt cutters and trim the nails to a shorter length, although do this in small increments.

This will reduce the leverage and make the nails harder. If you can still bend with ease when you get to 5 inches about 12.5cm you will need to find alternative stock to use.
