Scott Styles
Starte Here: http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtop...0257&hl=hacksaw I used a hacksaw. It me took about 45 minutes to do both sides, but I had the dumbell on some newspaper on the floor in my living room.
ishred
hacksaw here too... i bought a 55lber... i only cut one side...too lazy to do the other. I drilled a hole on one side and threaded it so i can bolt on plates since it is light

LAHotSauce
Hacksaw my @$$! I used a 9000 RPM industrial strength hand/angle grinder. 7" grinding wheel. I got a great hand/wrist workout just holding on to the grinder. It probably weighs in at 25lbs. RL
tomricci
I used a hacksaw with a new blade and cutting oil, it took 500 strokes per side. Yes, I counted. Why? Why not?

Clamp down one side if you have a workbench and a suitable C-clamp.

Just a smidgon remained and I grinded it down smooth.

Blade teeth forward, cutting on the push stroke? it only cuts on the push stroke. whats` up... 1/2 hr? sheeeesh 18 teeth per inch Bi-metal blade? Use the whole length of the blade... no short choppy back and forth strokes
Scott Styles
Make sure to cut both ends at once. If you cut one head off entirely before starting on the other, you are probably not getting the other off with a hack saw.

GatorGrip
HACKSAW and a wagon load of determination. The cut off bar was not exactly as smooth and flush to dumbbell so a little hand filing and a Dremal tool did the trick and made them slick. The best workout I got from those things was cutting out the handle as I have not played with them much. I plan to I swear!
HAMMERHEAD
I've cut a shitload with just a hacksaw but the last one I did was with and angle grinder and a sledgehammer. If you get sick of using the hacksaw... after you get about 1/2 way through just beat the hell outta it with a sledge hammer. It'll break off and you won't hurt the block at all. -HH
