chrlslee1
Where do you guys place the points of the steel during a crushdown and do you guys find it difficult to crushdown 5" bends?
MikeP
The bottom of the thumbpad, right where it meets the palm. Yes, with tough steel, especially 4.5" and under.

GatorGrip
I agree with MikeP on placement - right in that natural shallow fold in the middle just above the beginning of the wrist. BENDING THE MIDGET METAL has several unique challenges to deal with. I have bent 1/4" x 4.5 CRS and 5/16" x 4" HRS which was extremely tough because of the following challenges. 1) The shorter the bar the smaller amount of hand you can get around it and I have found that lifting the index finger out of the way and using the last 3 and the thumb clenched around the wraps works best for me. (it isn't comfortable by no means but I suffer through it for a new PR) SO EXPERIMENT with your most effective GRIP and HAND PLACEMENT that will give you optimal leverage on the little bar. 2) I have experimented with the thickness of the wrapping itself. To much padding makes it even harder because of the more space it takes up which makes it harder to get the leverage needed. To little padding and the pain in the palms makes it where you where you can't excert the required pressure needed to bend the little bar. SO EXPERIMENT with the WRAP THICKNESS The metal is no harder in composition, but the amount of leverage you can gain on it is lower the shorter you go. BOTTOM LINE: THE SHORTER YOU GO -THE LESS LEVERAGE YOU CAN GAIN ON IT or at least the more difficult it will be but personal experimentation is the key based on your hands strengths and weakness.
