FrankyBoy
Having seen that John already knocked down the G8 I was somehow motivated. Yesterday I got a bunch of hints from David Morton and Kevin (handgripperman) during a webcam workout session. They tried to optimize my DO bending which I'm current using only for the crush down and not the kink. I could even kink a Yellow uisng DO! Dave explained me where exactly I should have the nail in my hand. Today I wanted to show my girl friend that I'm not able to even bend a Yellow that style. Well I wrapped that Yellow like Dave showed me and started my bend with all the things I learned. A couple of seconds that Yellow was blown away, effortless! Well, there are harder nails and bolts than a Yellow I thought. So, I took a Blue, wrapped it and it went easy down too. Since I have many troubles with my thumb pads (bruises), my elbows (tendonitis) and my chest (just sore) I didn't want to try a G5 as next step. I instead went to the G8. I wrapped it gave all I had and ... it bent! A little kink only but that was enough: Some minutes later I had that thing under 2". Motivated by the ease of the Yellow and Blue bends I filmed that attempt: G8 first part of bend 5MB Since this is for sure boring for most of you I didn't want to upload the whole vid which was longer than 5 minutes in total. Greatest problem of this bend were my large bruises on both thumb pads, which I got from chest crushing prekinked Reds with the IM Pads. Thanks again to Dave, Kevin und Greg! mmainlands
Thuper job, congrats! How did you like the springy feeling those 8s have during the crushdown?
burkhardmacht
Yeah! On to the RED!
FrankyBoy
Thanks! Yeah, thats a nice feeling. I was lucky since I already crushed down a G8 after having prekinked it. Its very hard to get it under 2" when having both ends of the bolt wrapped. Its better to wrap it into a single pad or towel for that last part. Thuper job, congrats! How did you like the springy feeling those 8s have during the crushdown? ←
John Beatty
Frank - Congrats!! Race you to the red.....
mmainlands
Yeah, don't fight the wrap during the crushdown. Take whatever wrap you were using for one end of the nail, and wrap it around both ends for the crushdown. Then there is nothing in between to interfere. gottabend
Awesome Frank! Yesterday I got a bunch of hints from David Morton and Kevin (handgripperman)during a webcam workout session. Can you share any of these new insights? Especially for beginners like myself, every detail on technique, etc. helps. Get that red!
chrlslee1
Was that a ordinary double overhand???? I do it alot differently. Also, the way you do it looks like alot of pressure is on the hands and wrists.
kerbjr
Awesome, good work on the grade 8, The Red is not that far off, considering you just now got the form down. You are going to see some huge gains quickly. Keep up the good work...Brett

FrankyBoy
Well, both showed me their bending from different views. Dave told me to wrap my pads very tight. I always used some lousy wrapped pads to get the bolt head into them without rewrapping. Furthermore Dave told me I should place the nails end at the line which is built by the thump pad. I always tried to put my index fingers as close as possible together. I never thought I'd ever be able to bend a Yellow DO even though I could already kink a G8 double under. I'm sure I would have had faster progress if I had bought Erics e-book. But since I was bending DU and had absolutly no gains in DO I was thinking that his book isn't for me. Wrong! However, I try to improve my DU strength further, since I'd like to bend at least the G8 in three different styles (DU, DO, old terminator). Currently I can do this with a Blue, maybe a G5.
