Bearcat 74
Use some sort of cleaner, I use Basin Tub and Tile and a good tooth brush. After cleaning, use a towel to dry and then be sure to oil the spring back and wipe it down again.

I clean my grippers all the time, makes them feel better, grip better everything. I alway be sure to use a tooth brush, never metal.
king crusher
i just use hot soapy water, and use my hands to clean um. i light oil on the spring might not be a bad idea also.
Lyle
I don't use a cleaner, although I can't see why it would harm anything, I just use a brush to remove chalk and skin buildup. works fine and like Heath said better feel, better bite. OldGuy
I use hot soapy water and a cleanser such as comet. I scrub with a small scrub brush. Dry standing spring facing down, and then lightly oil the spring avoiding getting oil on the handle. The gripper will look as new.
