Michael Schmitt
OK, no comments about wasting good beer. Since I have heard about this feat, I have been curious. How does this compare to COC?
Clayton
In my opinion, it's harder to do than closing the #3. Every once in awhile I'll work up the nerve to try a can, and I've never been able to do much with it. Your hand is pretty far open, and I find it hard to squeeze from that position. You can also try to put your fingers through the can, like you would when crushing an apple, but this is EXTREMEMLY BRUTAL. I tried a couple weeks ago, and nearly ended up in tears. Guest Askalas
I've seen pics of someone doing this and it looks VERY difficult. Eventually I'd like to be able to do it but I'm years from being able to come close. Best of luck if you're training for it!
underdawg
i've tried this a couple of times (usually when i've already got 1 or 2 in me ) and so far all i've succeeded in doin is barely denting the can and makin my hands hurt like ####. i can't make a comparison as to how hard it is, since i've yet to attempt the #3 (it's in the mail), but i do know it's hard one handed. i've heard that this feat is fairly easy using 2 hands, but i haven't tried it yet. Guest baldy
I have never seen anyone do it with one hand, but I have seen the 2-hand version in pictures. I think Gorilla Hands has pics on his website of him crushing a Coke with 2 hands, and there are sequence photos there of him crushing a potato with one hand. I saw an armwrestling website with a picture of a guy crushing a Coke with both hands but he was using a chest crushing method with elbows up / hands on either side of the can. Speaking of the potato, has anyone on here tried to crush one? I have tried it. I blew into a good sized potato with everything I had (which is not saying a lot) and I heard it make a really quiet "click" noise, but no structural damage. My wife witnessed the event and asked me to quit before I got hurt. Next time I will sneak the potato out to the garage when she isn't around
Roark
Is baking the potato first, cheating?
Guest baldy
Yeah, the potato has to be raw. Brookfield in MOHS recommends baking it if unsuccessful at crushing. Presumably he means to eat, or maybe just revenge. Incidentally, he said that he thinks this is harder than closing a #3. However, I would guess that potato in-lbs vary almost as much as the #3, so some might get an easy potato and others might get the one with numbers stamped on both handles. Guest omegapower
Hey crushing cans, thats something I am good at. I use two hands and interlock the fingers over the top of the can and drive my palm into the opposite sides of the can. The can triangles in the middle then EXPLODES. It is a cool feeling and makes a great mess. Use a diet sprite or seven up they are clear and don't contain sugar. Give it a try sometime. Crushing cans for me is easier than some other grip feats because I am a good bencher, 505 w/ shirt and 485 raw @215 lbs. Another way to destroy cans is by crushing them from the center with hands opposing each other.
