Kurt Lane
Was just sitting here on computer doing college work. When I rembered I had some 5/16 Hot rolled cut up for future use. Decided to take one out. Took me a good 3 Minutes but I got it down under 2'' for sure.. This one the hardest bend I have done so far. But it felt almost the same in difficulty to a g8. What do you guys think? Is 5/16 HR harder then a g8?
gamidon
Congrats Kurt. You will be knocking over Reds in no time.... Great progress.
MikeP
I've got 5/16" HRS that is easier than a G5 but SHRUG advertises his as way harder than a red, so the point is you don't know. I was bending my 5/16" quite awhile ago but my best bolt is a recent 5" G5.... Congrats either way. Edited October 8, 2004 by MikeP

Kurt Lane
Thanks Eric. Mike have you bent a red ? This 5/16 Hot rolled felt alot harder to start then a 5.5 G5 and maybe a tiny bit harder crushdown. Is 5/16 HR harder then a g8? ← I haven't bent a g8, but I bought some 5/16th hrs from home depot for fun. I decided to try it for fun. I gave a go at a 7" piece. I didn't try too hard, but i gave it a decent kink. maybe your stock is harder than mine.
Kurt Lane
This 5/16 HRS is as hard or harder then a G8! Its from Lowes I think. Anyway maybe your getting stronger tho billy? Check out my Album tho and look at the 5/16 I bent off center.. That shit was TUFF. Edited October 10, 2004 by Kurt Lane

Clay Edgin
Kurt, did you happen to note what brand of steel it was? I just brought some 5/16" HRS down to porkbone this weekend and a 7" piece of it was between a G5 and a G8 I think. The brand name was Steel Works and I bought it at Ace. Kurt Lane
No Clay but ill check it out. Im going to go back to the hardware store and pickup some more! I did some tests loading up my loading pin to about 350lbs and pulling up on the bar. I found that Some CRS I had bent the EXACT same as the HRS and the Red nail Bent the Least. by about 5-10 degrees
