burkhardmacht Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 The surface of the IM HUB is very slippery. So I wondered how much weight somebody who can hub lift a 45er (with normal surface) will lift with the IM HUB?! Sybersnott Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 To take the slickness out of the IM hub, wrap some athletic tape around it and then chalk it up - now you can use it for doing hub lifts. Some plates are better built for hub lifts than others. I have a super nice 35# plate that I've done hub lifts on before, even with some added weight it came up nicely for me. Then I have a 55# Marcy bumper with a nice hub on it; I tried to hub lift that bugger and the darned thing didn't even budge!! Quote "I have always been strong. dthor Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 I was lifting a bit under 40# on the IM Hub when I hub lifted Hampton 45's. Picture is in the gallery. Hampton plates have a fairly good hub, similar in size to the IM Hub. Quote
burkhardmacht Posted September 7, 2004 Author Posted September 7, 2004 Thanks John, thanks David! Clay Edgin Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 I hublifted a 45lb plate before I touched an IM hub device, and I think I pulled something like 47.5 on it. Quote

Clay Edgin Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Thanks. Last Sunday I had the pleasure of watching a relatively unknown 50 year old accountant lock out 65lbs (plus apparatus) and break 70lbs off the ground several times. Now that's freaky! His username here is "hubgeezer" Quote
Thaibox Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 (edited) I've pulled 50lbs on the IM(pic's below), but I've never found a plate with a decent hub. Damn west coast. Clay Edgin Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Eric, I pulled 52.5lbs in the Iron Grip Contest in March Quote
