So... I've been a member since 2017 and I'm ashamed that I don't contribute as I should .. I usually upload my training posts to Instagram (@bulldogmarty) and Facebook .. this needs to change, so moving forward the gripboard will also be a place where I can share with like-minded people!

Here's a overview. I've been fascinated by steel bending for years and I genuinely appreciate each of you out there, your efforts have paved the way. After I turned 50, I decided to begin my own journey in February of 2020 .. February of 2022 will be my second year of bending. In November of this year I turn 53 so of course I realize that my best bending years are behind me. Nonetheless I enjoy various styles from unbraced to braced to steel snapping and I'm truly grateful, however I made a bit of a mistake by becoming dependent on double wraps without going through the body hardening and conditioning that single wraps develop. I went on to bend a IM red, bastard and huge bastard and the Horrido A2 bolt all in double wraps. Guess what happened when I tried to bend those same bars in singles! In any event, I knew something had to be done so with the kind and helpful advice of legendary bender EJ Livesey and Nate Brouse who was also kind in explaining his micro wraps training, I've been making a few adjustments. I'm 5 weeks in, so it makes no sense to upload the past 5 weeks so I'll start with today's session. Basically I kink, sweep then crush on different days using single and micro wraps only .. I've also thrown in isos which will be done sensibly and carefully .. 60%, 75%, 85% and max hits once per month then repeat.

I'd like to make clear that in no way am I condemning double wraps. I use doubles for some braced bends and snaps and I intend to use them for unbraced bends in the future, but for bars or bolts that warrant them. I believe that with time, I'll be able to take down reds, bastards and similar stock in singles. Ultimately my goal is to become a stronger unbraced bender and I'm glad I began working towards this correctly! P.S. I hope I linked these videos correctly! I've been trying all morning with no luck .. first time uploading videos to the gripboard so I'm not familiar!
