OldGuy
I have not been doing much grip training in recent weeks apart from a little for the online contest. My hands and forearms had been wasted from too many grip exercises and overdoing KTA. I had cut way back on grip work on starting KTA, but realized later that I had not cut down enough. This means that little had been done with the 2 3/8'' loadable handle. Now that my hands are back to normal, I have been doing Fairbar and using a 3'' thick loadable handle. Just for fun I gave the Inch loadable a try with 172 lbs. loaded, and using special collars to make it act like a solid bell. I had lost strength and for the first time felt what it was like to have a heavy solid thick handled dumbbell twist out my grasp. I had only read about it before. It was good to see the difference between solid bells and otherwise. I can compare it to how an RT handle lift that is too heavy, feels in the hand. My plate curl trainer seems to be working, and without training on plates I have gotten stronger. The pony clamp thumb trainer has increased my pinchlift of actual plates, not having trained on them either. I just keep adding one more rubber band to the clamp as it gets easier. Jonathan McMillan
Thanks for posting the summary and insights!! I'm going to have to get around to doing some pinching with the pony clamp. The idea of using rubber bands to increase the resistance is very clever. Jon@han
