Rb Narrow Grippers

Force

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to get some data how strong those RB Narrow models are. That narrow spread feels great in hand. Good for NoSet training too. It's a shame that spring is not so good quality than BB and CoC grippers.

This is what I've found comments and some calibration results;

RB210N: 1,89. Little bit easier than CoC #2.

RB240N: 2,78. Midway of #2.5 and #3

RB260N: 2,8. About same as RB240N

RB300N: 3,11. Just a little bit harder than #3

RB330N: 3,36. Easier than #3.5

RB365N: 3,64. Harder than #3.5

RB400N: 3,83

Do this look about right? Those RB:s vary so much that calibration result have huge dispersion. Example some RB260 and RB240 are way below 2.5..but on average they are harder than 2.5.

That looks right. You can get narrow Beefbuilders, btw.

Yeah, but the price is over 2,5 times normal gripper, when narrow RB:s cost the same as normal versions.

How strong RB180N is? About 1.5 ?

Yea, I know that list. It says that RB240N and RB260N are easier than CoC #2.5. On average, are they? I think they are bit harder.

RB330N harder than CoC #3.5. No way.

There are some 330Ns that are harder than some #3.5s. Keep in mind most #3.5s are in the low/mid 170s anymore.

RBs are all over the map. The RGC numbers now support what some of us discovered a long time ago.

There is surely plenty of 330Ns that are harder than plenty of #3.5:s, but on average #3.5 is maybe just a bit harder.

Sad but true. It is quite useless to calculate average rating when grippers vary so much. Example easiest RB260 what I've seen calibrated 127lbs = 2.42 and hardest 162lbs = 3.2 (same calibration device). Huge difference.

The problem with this list is that HG150 is harder than a Trainer and the BB Master is slightly harder than a #2.

I'm also very curious about the Robert Baraban Grippers, I just ordered one myself to see how they are.

What do you mean that the spring quality is low? Is the close like Heavy Grips? Do the grippers become relatively easier after 5 workout sessions? I think BeefBuilder customized grippers are good, but pretty pricey for not so good looking grippers and I'm still not a fan of its knurling. Too rough to the point where your palm gets red. CoC knurling I really like!

Does anyone know if RB knurling is like CoC ? I remember the HG knurling was not bad at all when I had HG's, but there were other things I didn't like - the close felt uneven and the handles would touch but one was higher than the other, also the seasoning bothered me.

My BB Master is also slightly harder than my CoC #2, but again, they are so close that it's just like throwing a coin which one would be harder if you order both.

Spring quality is lower than CoC and BB, because the grippers loose some of their strength. It's still far better than Heavy Grips. HG:s are junk.

Test was done with RB400N. Before first close the strength was 208 lbs, after 10 closes 204, after 50 it was 199 and after 100 closes it was 196 lbs. Then after 15 minutes it was again 199 lbs.

Knurling and feel is of course opinions, but personally I like the RB:s knurling and feel the most. Handles are just slightly fatter than CoC and Beefs and it gives them slightly different feel.

I think the BB Master is a 2.1 on the CoC scale.

Would anyone know how the RB160, RB180, and RB210N rank the CoC scale ?

really depends from when they are from, as i have a 160 and 180, that must be pretty close together, and they are just above a 2, and i just got a 210c which is a narrow, that is a little older, and that is similar as well, could possibly be easier, havent really compared them much,

Some calibration results;

RB160: Sample of 13 grippers. Rating 1,52 - 2,4. Average 1,95.

RB180: Sample of 10 grippers. Rating 1,93 - 2,61. Average 2,20.

RB210N: I've seen only one calibration result and it was 1,89.

I like my RB210N, it's a perfect fit for my hand to perform no set closes and there is more than enough room for a "Credit card set" in them if I ever decide I want to cert. IMO they would be very useful building the strength for certing. I ordered a few more to work on my over all strength. As Teemu and a few others pointed out in another thread, grippers were originally created with some design flaws, I.E. pretty wide for the average hand. I think the RB Narrows suit me the best for no set work, I can set or not set if I want and work with them well. I plan to get all my RB's calibrated by Cannon when I get them all in and see how strong they are. I'll get more from Wade in the future no doubt.

I have thought many times why grippers have so impractically wide spread. My RB70 has 2.19" spread and it feels so much more comfortable in hand than normal +2.70" spread. In my opinion normal spread should be around 2". That's the reason I'm interested in RB Narrow models only. Normal spread grippers I go with BB and CoC.

I have no idea, I guess it became the normal thing to do? But yes, the Narrow RB's from what I can tell (judging from my RB210N) are worth it. I'm waiting for the 240 and 260 Narrow's with the chrome springs to get here from Wade.

How hard is your RB210N compared to your CoC #2 ?

I just got my RB160 today and it feels right between my CoC #2 and Coc #2.5.

Very weird, considering this gripper is suppose to be rated about 1.75.

I rate it a 2.25.

Does anyone know if this gripper will season?

I've so far closed it few times, didn't really feel any difference in it yet.

THANKS.

In average RB160 is just below #2. Again there is ridiculous amount of variation. You can get looser than hard #1.5 or harder than easy #2.5.
