Benefits / Carryover Of Doing Pull Ups On A Beam?

Seen videos of this on YouTube earlier, aswell as an arm wrestler using a piece of 2x4 with an eyebolt running through it so he could do static holds with a cable attachment.

anyone tried it? just wondering what benefits / carryover you can get from doing this?

It is one form of training pinch. Not sure if it adds anything else than versatility to training. Personally i do most of my pinch training with wooden blocks. Seems to work for some extent at least.

thanks for the reply. i think your thinking of rafter pull ups? perhaps i didnt explain myself properly, heres a video so you can see what i was getting at.
