David_wigren
Feels good to bend steel again after all this time off from it! Did some 8mm x 7 3/4" stainless in Ironmind Pads. Took me about 30 minutes with alot of resting between hits! Pretty nasty stainless if my memory serves me right. Biggest problem for me during this bend was not the strength, but rather the pain in my hands! The bend would've gotten down quicker, but the hand toughness was just not there anymore. Regardless, I'm super stoked that I was able to take down this bar at all. This was a good indication for me that I have not totally lost it. There is still some strength left in me! Next time I will attempt some Iron Grip bars! Ivan sent me a few, completely free as a friendly gesture. The package has not yet arrived. But if they arrive this week, I will attempt to bend them this weekend!
EJ Livesey
Very cool Wiggy. This makes me happy you are bending again. You're hands will get tough again, and pretty quick. The next few months are gonna be a lot of fun for the bending community

The next few months are gonna be a lot of fun for the bending community Thank you EJ! I don't think I'm gonna go too crazy with the bending this time. Just enough to reach or get close where I was when I was at my best so I can do a few decent bends for the Iron Grip lists. David_wigren
Maskindelen? Testat SS 7"x8mm från maskindelen i dubbla wraps och kommit te 45 grader. Efterblivet hårt stål Yes the stainless comes from Maskindelen and it is hard stainless. But it was cut to 7 3/4" and not 7". I bent one first at 9" and was going to do an 8" but I made an error when I cut it, ended up being 7 and 3/4. Very cool Wiggy. This makes me happy you are bending again. I heartily hope you will enjoy the bars! Haha, thank you Ivan! I feel pretty confident that I will do well with the DO and Reverse bar you've sent. The DU bar is a bit iffy though. I'm not sure if the strength and technique is still where it needs to be. I will do my best and hope it's enough.
Sean Cashman
Great to hear you are picking up some steel again David. This is pretty exciting stuff! I look forward to seeing some more bends. And steel bending is way too addictive. Sometimes it feels like it's completely out of your system, then it just pulls you back in before you even realize it! Sometimes it feels like it's completely out of your system, then it just pulls you back in before you even realize it! Thank you Sean! I've tried almost everything there is to try in the world of strength and fitness and for me, steel bending has been the most enjoyable pursuit. In a way it truly is addicting. There are just so many ways for you to improve, you're almost always making some PR's in some way shape or form. It's instant gratification almost every workout. And there's just nothing better in the world for a PR junkie than to PR all the time. Glad to see you back at it. I said the exact same thing a few months ago. I was just going to bend for fun etc... Maybe it's like Ivan said "there are no former steel benders"! Glad to see you back at it brother ! Thank you man!
David_wigren
Managed to bend a 7.5" x 8mm of that same stainless in Ironmind pads tonight. Still took me forever to bend it, so I don't have a video. Took me about 30 minutes with alot of resting between hits. I figure that I will work down to 7" and then work on speed until I can get one in under at least 5 minutes, and then post a video. I also tried some barehand bending tonight. It'a a 7" x 1/4 of pretty decent CRS. Got all the movement in the first DU hit. Felt pretty easy to kink it actually. However no matter what I tried I could not get it any further with any technique. My hands just weren't tough enough to bend it.
acromegaman
Great job David! Already starting back string in IMP's. I still have a hole in my palm from my barehanding experience.

David_wigren
Thank you Delmar and Alawadhi! Yesterday I picked up some from Ivan Beritashvili and the Iron Grip Team. I plan to attempt some of those bars later this week.
David_wigren
Finally managed to bend a 7" bar of the 8mm stainless last night. Took a grueling 30-40 minutes, with lots of resting in between and re-wrapping the bar a couple of times. Now I will work on reducing the time until I'm down to a minute or two. bencrush
Must be some nasty stock, David! TJA sent me some fantastic 8mm Stainless years back. I remember it being very hard. 7" piece of that was much harder than the FBBC Shinys. The stuff you have must be the same.

He also sent me some stainless a bunch of years ago. He was sitting on some truly nasty stainless! I think this stainless is almost par with what he sent me, maybe just under it in terms of difficulty. My "inner" sense of measuring steel I bend is way off these days. But I remember guesstimating this steel between 540-560 at 7" with the old way of measuring. Way harder than any shiny's from FBBC.
