A use for those lifting straps

I stopped using lifting straps back when I dropped musclemag -type training and started going for hi-intensity, low-volume functional strength training. Good thing I didn't throw them away, though - I've started doing chins with them  doubled over the bar, gripping the two ends together like towel chins. I think towel chins will be a lot harder to keep a grip on than these, but these are a start.

Anybody else use straps like this?

another good use for Ironminds "weightlifting" (olympic) straps is to poke a hole in them and use them with a loading pin for strap pulls with the grippers, it is the perfect length and they don't fray.

It doesn't hurt while doing them that much; there's a little bit of skin pinching going on, but the straps are pretty soft, and it's not as bad as a double-overhand deadlift. But it's a very static/isometric contraction as far as the grip is concerned, so it hurts pretty badly right when I finish and try to get my hands to open again. After a little flexing and wiggling they're fine.
