2020 Michigan Steel Bending and Breaking Championship

Recommended Posts

Donc101

Check out the top page guys. I updated the rules and events. This is going to be exciting. We are adding another braced bending event and will now contest long bar, mid-length and spike bending. The medley will be brutal, even more so than last year.  This will be a very well rounded contest with all 3 unbraced styles contested, the 3 different lengths of braced bar bending contested and 4 types of snapping contested. Thus, 10 types of bending contested.

The shield is amazing work, and the medley looks absolutely savage. Looking forward to this!

I know some of this is still up in the air. Is the plan to run 7” steel again for the DO event? If you’re using DHWOG steel will you be using his wraps too?

DO will be 6” DHWOG rated steel in DHWOG wraps to 2”.

Huge thanks for your kind words Don! And it was a pleasure to do that for your great competition.

Unfortunatly your post will be deleted due to the forum rules with the link to the shop.

Anyway. Thanks again.

The shirt is a great addition to what is going to be a tough and grueling competition that tests all aspects of bending!

Yes sir. We will use DHWOG rated steel for this and all unbraced bends.

Don, I won't be able to make it this year.  As I mentioned earlier, I am a coach for Special Olympics and our big track and field event is usually one of the first few weekends in May.  They just made the announcement and it is going to be on May 2.  I was still holding out hope with the injuries which have been steadily improving, but I can't miss this.  Should be an epic event, especially after last year's!

Hey Don - It turns out I’m going to be in Japan the first week of May trying to bend increasingly thick pairs of chop sticks and learning to assimilate into samurai lifestyle after I’m most likely not allowed back in the country, so very unfortunately I’m not gonna be able to make your contest - it’s become too easy to contract coronavirus here in NYC so I gotta travel closer to the source to test my resistance - I had such an awesome time last year and by the line up it looks like this years going to be even more intense - look forward to hearing of the steel carnage and hopefully can make next year if you’re having it again! Sending my most heartfelt bending blessing for another awesome comp!

Thanks Anton. Good luck with everything. We will definitely do it again next year. See you then!

The 2020 Michigan Steel Bending and Breaking Championship medley is brutal, especially after doing 6 bending events. If you do the hardest options, you snap the following: 1) Red Nail, 2) Grade 5 Bolt while lying down, 3) 3/8 x 14” HRS and 4) 4 oval nails. I ran through it tonight for the first time. Fun and hard.

Aren't you maybe the only human who can do all that in one day?

Haha, no very good benders could do the hardest choices in the medley. Probably not a lot of people but definitely some. We have different options for different points, like in a grip medley.

@JHenze646 is the man. Received a great package today from Josh. He designed, made and contributed these great bending figures to be used as prizes in bending comps. They are absolutely bad ass. Thank you very much sir!
