db2000
Does anyone use the wrist developer double underhand? They warn against it on David Hornes site but I am not sure if they are being overly cautious....or there is a genuine concern.
KapMan
I wouldn’t. But you could always use steel benders helpers from camp verde rope and gear. The downside to those is they run shorter and thicker. But its a tool and I liked it. The best way is to just bend steel.
Fist of Fury
Seems like a great way of hurting yourself. EDIT: Sorry I was tired, I read overhand. Underhand is okay but probably not optimal but I think it's safe to train that way.
Donc101
I love the WD for training reverse and just warming up the wrists. I have tried it DU and it just feels weird, I think it is a good way to tweak your wrists. Also, it is not exactly like the feel of DU, so would it help your DU bending much? Not worth it to me. Best for DU: 1. Doing DU bending, 2. ISOs on a dowel rod or similar, 3. Steel bender helper, much better for DU than WD.
Gary Gray
I have a David Horne Wrist Developer which I purchased from Jedd Johnson several years ago. I have been using both the double overhand and double under grip style. The David Horne website states; "This product is only designed for reverse bending style (please see video if unsure). Not suitable for double overhand or underhand bending style. We have never had a spring break but please be aware that springs do fatigue over time and may snap. Keep this in mind and check your springs - keep away from your face when using." The video further shows someone also using the Heslep Style Grip. My guess is that the double overhand and double underhand grip styles are much closer to your face than the reverse or heslep style grip - and may be in more danger of a spring break. Could there be a little more feedback on the value of using double overhand and double underhand style grip on the Wrist Developer as training for Nail Bending. Also some discussion on the danger of the springs breaking.
Danny Young
Do you have a specific goal for DU?
db2000
4 hours ago, Danny Young said: Do you have a specific goal for DU? What I am actually trying to do is build a base. Grippers are my number one goal right now. I can't bend too much and do grippers at the same time...it just didn't work. So what I am trying to do is build up my wrist strength as much as I can without bending much so that when I reach my gripper goal I will be starting my bending from a better base. Currently doing a lot of sledgehammer work and general gym stuff...and a small amount of bending Edited July 27, 2019 by db2000
