Hi everyone,

I updated this document and added all of the info that people sent me plus some more info.  I also added a section on Don Larkin. I found so much great info on him, I included the section. The Michigan Grip Championships were held at his gym.  They contested bending multiple times.  Don was an old school strongman, bad ass. I hope everyone enjoys and if you have more contests or info for me, please send it over. The updated document is in the first post in this thread. Thanks.

Don

Thanks Carl! All of the bending only contests I found are in the document. I had trouble finding beast in the east info. I would love more info on those contests. I think most of that info was on the battlefield and that’s why I could not find it.

All you have to know is I won the 1st one and then took the second year off and only judged so that somebody else could win.  :laugh:laugh

Great document.  Lots of hard work!!!!

Very impressive. Looks like I have some reading to do. And I’m glad to see bending only comps are still alive

Thank you for letting me win the second one. Would have been a different story if you did compete.

I got back into grip seriously about a year ago.  No bending though.  At 51, I'm too fragile.  Lol

Great seeing you on hear old friend!

I ran bending at GGC 2004.  It was unbraced down to 2".

I also ran it again in either or both GGC 2007 and 2008.  Paul Knight came one of those years.  We cut it out after that.

There was bending in the 2 Backyard Bastard Bashes I attended in 2006 & 2007.

If you have results or photos I will add it in. Always great to get new info to add. Thanks. What does GGC stand for?

I think the results are here on the site somewhere.  GGC stands for Global Grip Challenge, the name of the comp before I started running and assisting with the US Nationals/NAGS Championship.

I updated the book. Check out the link in the top post. Lots of new info, contests and photos.  I love this quote from @EricMilfeld

“I'm not sure which I enjoy most, straining my own guts, or watching everyone else do the same. The determination and grit you see displayed in a bending contest is unique. I guess it's more like strongman than anything. It's awesome to watch a guy go psycho on the steel for three minutes straight!”

I have 2007 Gripmas results with Reverse Bending - It would be easier if you messaged me your email address and I sent it to you that way.  I suck at technology :)

Check out pages 206 and 207 and tell me if that looks right.

What I show are the results page which has the poundage rating (rated by Eric ).  I don't have the "bars" but the ratings.
