Guys this is seriously absurd. Magnus is one of the strongest climbers on the planet. He pulled around 113lbs on the blockbuster on his first try WTF?? The dude has never trained for gripsport

Magnus very strong but that is not the Ironmind Blockbuster pinch block. John call could not lift 90lbs as he did in vid let alone lift it that easy on a legit BB. However, nice to see someone ( Magnus)that is a natural in the video no pun intended.

Ahh thank you for pointing that out. I was so engrossed in the video that I just took their word for it. John has a huge channel and I am glad they are spreading gripsport to new people. I am sure John did not intend to be misleading.

Not a blockbuster and he’s dragging it up on his body. Totally not legal. Looks like it’s Lukes block it’s got the hole conversion on the 4 inch side and you can see it’s got the texture paint. Would like to see what he can do on a legal lift with a BB.

Yeah, for sure an AA Block (which I prefer). Better texture and less rounded edges make it significantly easier, but that is an insane lift regardless.

It wasn’t legal and hooked on his body. We will never know how much assistance that gave. I prefer the AA one also. I want to see It with no body contact legally

Agreed.

Still pretty damn crazy that he did that with basically raw technique and little-to-no instruction. He also seems like a really cool dude.

Many climbers are super strong. Even though they don’t train “gripsport”, all they do is grip train on the things for their sport, their sport is totally grip based. So they are trained intensely for grip. The grip implements we use are just different tests for their already supreme grips.

We just have very weak thumbs. Wrists are also weak but I think that might be just me.

Gil and Tanner do not seem to suffer from weak thumbs or wrists judging by their records thus far. That may be individually based on the person

I think at this point Gil would no longer call himself a climber and has spent enough time training his weaknesses. I don't know enough about Tanners thumbs but he seems to be good at thick bar and relatively bad at pinches, just like me.

Thickbar he is a king and that takes a lot of thumb strength bro.

Yea, but they're also both crazy strong mutants and not representative of everybody. I've had lots of climbers play with some implements and most have low thumb strength and very high finger tip strength which makes sense. I would say the same about you, you came into grip with very unique strengths and have excelled quickly, would be silly to compare you to other people.

Very good point my friend! I can definitely concur with that. Those are the only climbers I know and they have done great. Good points Mikey! It’s easy to think everyone doing it is strong from seeing those 2 examples. You are a climber and have had others try it. I will take your word for it.

Gonna side with climber on this one. I'm around climbers most days of the week, and their thumb strength lags far behind their finger strength. It's just not a huge part of their sport since pinch style holds are much less common. Gil and Tanner happened to be climbers, but I don't think that's what made them beasts of pinch. It certainly helps with stuff like Tips Tester and The Stirrup, however.

I'll prove it to you at King Kong, we can thumb wrestle and I bet you'll destroy me

Two things: 1. I wish he put a shout out for using my pinch block and 2. Leg contact makes a huge difference, i could lift 125+ lbs with that much leg contact! 🤣

I mean they must have known they weren't using an Ironmind blockbuster, right?  I did see the Arm Assassin sticker on the inside on the block (I think), but I was too dense to figure "hmm maybe its not an orginal blockbuster" SMH

I just think the distinction escaped them.  We are nerds, remember.
