Increased Hand Thickness

Has anyone here visibly increased the thickness of their hands through grip training, and if so, do you have before and after pics that show the difference?

I haven't measured but the connective tissue is slow to grow... so it will happen but there won't be very noticeable difference for years

My hands and wrists have thickened up, but this is a slow, gradual process. My fingers haven't even gotten noticeable thicker until recently. One thing that definitely sticks out though is the muscle between my thumb and forefinger. Looks like a walnut still in the casing. I credit it to making my hands somewhat wider. I call it the "bicep of my hand."

Finger size hasn't been noticable but the muscles in the hand have certainly gotten larger. Particularly the thumb muscles, thumb pad and muscle on the side where the pinky is. And of course the forearm has grown.

i think my hands have definitely gotten bigger. fingers....not so much. i always thought it would be interesting to put one's hands in a measuring cup to see how much water they displace. then measure the difference over time to quantify the change in volume.

Not sure if mine have grown or not really - I was pretty old when I started this game and had done a lot of work and climbing before this. I do know I wish they were thinner. They would fit better into thin cracks when I'm climbing and it would also help with thick bar lifts if they were thinner.

Yep, and now that I've been training for some hand hypertrophy it's even more noticeable. Fraser mentions it's working.

I have had similar growth not as big as this but after a year I have noticed a change more with forearms though. -could be because never did many wrist curls before though also-

Mirin..

You've got some lower arm development to be proud of there mate. Forearms are looking goodto. what exercise would you credit the most to their development?

I don't have pics, but my hand barely fits into my high school and college baseball gloves anymore.

Good point Jedd. I've had to start using larger gloves at work due to thumb muscles that have grown in this last year.

Alex, size I credit benching lately. The forearms have plain blew up in size. Definition is something I mostly got from climbing. Grippers too. In the hand just lots of pinching and thickbar. Funny thing is bending didn't do much visibly back when that was the main focus.

Your BW went up also, didn't it?

I've had to have rings resized a couple time... I don't really wear gloves so I don't know about that, but I can tell just by looking at my hands that they have gotten thicker. I've always had very slim boney hands. Now, especially because of the development between my thumb and forefinger, they look kind of like gloves themselves haha... My wrists have gotten thicker too. I've never really kept track of measurements, but now my fingers only touch ends when I wrap them around my wrists. Lately I've definitely noticed increased thickness in my first two fingers.

My hands and fingers have thickened quite a bit. My wife noticed this about 8-9 years ago. I had fairly skinny hands before I started grip training. Granted, I don't have the same level of development as the top gripsters, but my kids do call me "meat hands". I haven't been able to take off my wedding ring in years.

The ring still fits the same, but the thumb pad is growing. I think thumb pad size and strength is the key factor when performing TNS or CCS closes. This is because I can now flex the thumb pad after setting the gripper and it does the holding work while I position the card. That way I save energy in the fingers for the close.
