bencrush
someone should ask Florian kellersman. the guy is incredible. he certified with Tetting TNS 2.75" spread Elite. HIs hub lifting is even more impressive. It is listed as a 2 and 5/8" spread gripper. Big difference from the 2.75" gripper. K cool. I was going off the top of my head. You're probably right. So 2-5/8" instead of 2-6/8". 1/8" difference. I still think its impressive though. What is the average on an elite? my weights are not calibrated so it really means little, but my elite came at 175# . Elite average 165-180#? I still think his close is impressive too. I didn't say I thought he was weak just because it was a bit narrower. But there is a large difference in the two spreads on the Tetting cert grippers. I have closed a few grippers in my training. The average spread on an Elite is 2.75". The 165-175 is about average for most standard spread Elites.

Magnus
Lol, funny to see Paul's progress For me: MMS - 172lb BBE x 4 reps (parallel) CCS - a hair away on my ~170lb #3.5 TNS - don't hardly ever test this. Last I tried, I clamped my #3 (I'm guessing around 154lb) down to about 1-2mm. Always end up with my fingers digging into the opposite handle for some reason with TNS. Guest Bullitt
OK, Here's the first stab at putting this all together. The two main categories are CCS closes and TNS closes. The TNS closes will be broken down into two sub groups until we get more data points. These will be Narrow Spread (<2.75") & Normal Spread (>2.75"). When we get more spread measurements, I plan on adding a wide spread category (probably >3.00"). Rankings within these groups will be done like this: - Heaviest calibrated gripper within a group wins. - If there is a tie in the TNS category, the gripper with the widest spread wins. Please measure your gripper spreads and include in your posts!!! I will measure mine tonight and include. If there is a tie and one has spread measured and other one doesn't, measured gripper wins. - Video is not necessary, however, it is welcome. Once I figure out how to link video to your name, I will clean this up. - One caveat to the video section: If you are claiming some crazy gripper close that seems outside the realm of probability, you should submit a video. - We will allow non-calibrated grippers for this, however, you will be below all calibrated grippers of the same type. In other words, your "hard #3" will be below a calibrated #3 of 142#. Your uncalibrated #3 will be above a calibrated 2.5, but below all calibrated #3's. Calibration and spread measurement always rule. Some people don't have access to calibration equipment (me ) so we encourage you to post, but calibrated grippers win - always. This has worked well in the coin challenge, so I stole it. - Contrary to popular belief, I am fallible, so I will just tell you now that I will make mistakes. Please bear with me and don't hesitate to correct me if you catch an error. So here is my first stab at this. Any and all suggestions will be welcome. I'm sure this will evolve over time with everyone's input. Guest Bullitt
Tommy Heslep aka Gripper42004 - narrow (?) BBSE TNS http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?act=mod...si&img=4490 Wow If anybody knows Tommy, ask him if that was calibrated and what the spread is. For the time being, since we don't have either of those, I will put him in the Narrow category. That was sick. Looks like I will be updating this thread. Bear with me for a couple days while i get it together and then we can start updating. Thanks everyone. Thanks for picking this up Mike No problem Paul. I love this stuff. There just weren't enough posts with spreads to totally use you original format, but as we get more, I hope to move to something that more closely resembles that. Guest Bullitt
I'm kind of at a loss as to how to rank Gripper42004's (Tommy Heslep's) close. I am going to assume it is a narrow spread gripper since we don't have a measured spread. Then the problem is, where do we rank it in the narrow group??? According to the Gripper Superstore rankings, an SE is slightly harder than a RB330, however, since we don't have calibration numbers for this gripper, I am going to rank it behind jad's calibrated RB330N close. If we ever find out the specs on the gripper we can adjust accordingly. If somebody has a better way to place this very nice close, I am all ears.
