Soilworker
Just 10 for me...in order of difficultyIM #1 (2004 filed) PDA 243 (2004 filed) IM #2 (2004 filed) BBSM (2005) PDA 262 (2005) BBGM (2005) IM #3 (2005) RB 240 (2005 just received it today and became my favorite) BBE (2005) IM #4 (2005) and the ISG of course... The COC #3 has a chrome type spring but my number #4 is just plain black spring...Just wondering if anybody has ordered from IM lately and are geting chrome springs.... The black chromed steel gripper from RB is a piece of art. I can chest crush it and it feels a lot harder than my number #3. Needless to say I will be getting the whole collection from RB and just to be complete I'll order the remaining BBs ← The new IM's are all like that. RB's are some seriously nice grippers. I have: Trainer #1 #2, and #2 severly filed #3x2(one old and a 2005) #4 RB240 RB260N RB World Toughest Gripper BBSM BBGM BBE HG300 HG400 (#275) HG500x2 (#58 and one specially made for APT wrist straps) PDA243 PDA262 A custom gripper made by Warren Tetting=BBE flush mounted 2 and 1/8" spread. ttedford
ZPF, I'm not an expert but of the heavy duty gripper vendors I think there are just about 4. The COC and RB which you know of and the other two are HG --- Heavy Grips at www.heavygrips.com which I can't tell you about since I don't own any.. PDA -- Piedmont Design Associates -- www.fractionalplates.com These are excellent grippers as good if not better than IMs. You'll notice they have an even sweep and they season very well. Unfortunately I don't think they will be making more grippers when there current stock runs out...at least that is my impression from reading their gripper product page. However everything I bought from this company is top quality and I highly recommend it There maybe other vendors out there but I just don't know... Hi,I have got to ask, how many different types of grippers are there? I am not familiar with the two letter abbreviations. How do they rate against each other? I appreciate that one gripper measured against another even of the same type and rating will vary, but a rough guide would help. Chris Personally I own Coc #1 , RB160, 210, 240 & 260 Although anything above the #2 at me! ←

VeGripper
COC #1 (which someone took from me and I haven't seen in months...) Filed #2 Two #3s #4 Two PDA SOS262 (one about a 2.3, the other a 2.6-2.7 on the COC scale) HG400 (borrowed for many months, guy who owns it is still working on the #2) Beefbuillder GM and Elite RB210 RB240 RB260 A good enough collection to keep me busy for as long as I need! Soilworker
Two PDA SOS262 (one about a 2.3, the other a 2.6-2.7 on the COC scale) ← So much for the much trumpeted accuracy of the SOS's. My 262 is harder than both my #3's and has a 3 and 1/8" spread after seasoning. I still want a

VeGripper
Soilworker, Yes, I was a bit surprised at the range of the SOS grippers after all the talk about accuracy and how they were calibrated to be as close as possible. If yours is harder than a an IM#3, then that's WAY off from where mine are as for being tough as nails. I guess even when a company claims to have the least variance, there's still a whole lot of room for the grippers to be all over the place. I bought 2 of the SOS so that I could file one down after I first got the easier of the two - imagine my surprise when I could rep one for 4-5 in a set and couldn't close the next one without a few weeks work to get it! VeGripper Two PDA SOS262 (one about a 2.3, the other a 2.6-2.7 on the COC scale) ← So much for the much trumpeted accuracy of the SOS's. IM #1 filed RB180 new Black aluminium and chome spring IM #2 RB210 new Black aluminium and chome spring RB240 new Black aluminium and chome spring Total of 9, I also got a digital dyno dirt cheap (£4.10 off ebay including P&P) best effort so far is 61.5kgf.
