  1. It's been a year, grip nerds. Updated ratings data: https://cannonpowerworks.com/pages/grip-strength-ratings-data No real surprises at this point. Some averages moved by a pound or two.

  2. They say that you have to close your brand new gripper about 30 times to get the spring to it's working condition. Let's try it out.

  3. I had to admit that at my advanced age and with my various injuries, not to mention just medium-sized hands, that it isn't likely I'll ever be able to lift a full-weight Inch replica. So after a long search for baby Inches, I gave up trying to find one in the US, and I ordered a 66 kilo (mine weighs slightly more, about 146 pounds) from Gods of Grip in the UK. The dumbbell itself is just okay. The dimensions are spot on, but the handle is welded to the globes, and the weld makes getting a good grip harder than it should be, but the texture is pretty good. The service from Gods of Grip wasn't good. When they show the dumbbell to be "In Stock", that means that they have access to the components, but it still needs to be made and painted and shipped. They repeatedly underestimated how long it would take. I ordered it on 12/1/23, and didn't get it until 1/19/24, when I was originally told it would arrive before Christmas. I ordered a couple of the only other size (28 kilos) they had "In Stock" on 12/12/23. I finally got one of them on 2/7/24; Fedex lost the other one. I didn't get the refund for the lost one until 4/11/24. The owners seem like nice people, and they put on grip competitions and promote Grip Sport, which is good, but they constantly over-promised and under-delivered. If you order one of their baby Inch replicas, plan on being very, very patient. As this played out, a Grip board member posted about a guy in South Carolina who was starting to make baby Inch replicas! He (Zack Staniewicz) had a prototype with a 2-5/8" handle which I bought. The ones he will make in the future will have the 2-3/8" handle. He sent it out quickly and the quality, even on a prototype, was much better. It was cast in all one piece, so there are no welds on the handle. If I had known he was going to start making them, I never would have ordered the one from Gods of Grip. Zack will be making a few different sizes, and he is also making a handle and some rounded plates that will replicate the handle and rounded inside edges of an Inch, but it is plate-loaded. That should give the feel of a real Inch with the advantage of being able to adjust the weight, and I think he'll be selling those for less than $100. A much more affordable option for Inch Dumbbell training. I think he'll be making several sizes of the Inch replicas, including baby Inches, full-weight ones, and even heavier ones. Great to see that happening here in the US. He can be reached at 914-426-0764 or email zstan3@aol.com Domedude

  5. Major update. I was able to speak with the company who provided Warren with the 0.5625" Hercules springs. Warren ordered 100 springs in June of 2012 and then 36 springs in June of 2016. So best case scenario, 136 Hercules grippers is the max. There are likely less that have survived for a multitude of reasons. Whether all made it to production, were damaged in production, subsequently lost, etc. But 136 is the max.

  9. Here are some infos that I have gathered along with some nice photographs! From right to left we have a Single Stamp, 02' Double Stamp, 04' Double Stamp, 05' Double Stamp and modern design CoCs (with better knurling) from 06', 09' 12' and 14'. There are a total of two missed packages here - the square 02' package where the gripper was placed diagonally, and the early 14' package with the "IronMind" writing much more faded. I had one of those but tossed the package away after some time. The 05' GR8 double stamp was actually opened by me too, something I couldn't resist doing a while back Here are some close-ups of the very old ones: Single Stamp (1995-2002), same package was used on Silver Crush grippers I believe. The very old ones actually said "Silver Crush": A favourite of mine, the 02' Double Stamp, this one particular gripper is also called the "Samuelsson #4" (2002): A slightly different package for double stamps with the CoC writing on the handles from 2004 (the text placement on the back is also very different): The GR8 double stamp package looks quite similar to the white packaging used on the first "modern design" CoCs, but is also slightly different! Obviously, no 1.5 2.5 and 3.5 yet!

  10. Whats your favorite grip feat or what feat do you consider to be the most impressive? I primarily train olympic weightlifting and only started focusing on grip recently, so I really enjoy seeing what's been done in the community. For me it's gotta be Carl Myerscough curling 20kg plates with a pinch grip like they weigh nothing. For no other reason than that's something I walked out into my garage to try and it was so far out of possibilty.

  11. Carl's GHP 10 certification is at the top, for sure. I'd argue that it's one of the greatest strength feats accomplished by a human being period, without hyperbole. I don't think it could possibly be overstated just how difficult it is. People 15 years ago often said that they didn't believe a GHP 10 would ever be closed by a human hand. Carl did it with a 38mm block set.

  12. @Carl Myerscough 's GHP10 is #1 but theres a few other feats that should be mentioned Laine Snook cleaning tbe Inch then doing 300lbs for 10 reps on a rolling thunder Cim Johansson lifting 584lbs on a 2" Axle https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5ixx2BouSt/?igsh=Y3hnMWY3eWduZDF3 @AdamTGlass thumbless Inch Farmers walk for 17.5 feet also, his strict plate curls. @Ben Helms red pill cycle also, highest to clean and press the Inch. @Jedd Johnson 5 tens transfer a few times then fatman, blue and Next Gen Blob lift frenzy

  13. It's not "a" grip feat but I'm not as impressed by any single feat as I am with dominating something like a giant "Medley" that includes a number of what are "stand alone" highly impressive grip feats done non stop in a short time frame. Many include many feats that would be World Class by themselves. I can only imagine the Medley it would take to stop someone like Carl.

  20. Being a bit sceptical about numbers in training progress (all my grippers are not calibrated), I went for a search for dynamometr and find out that they either expensive or doesnt fit my requirements or just crappy quality. So I took advantage of my jobsite possibilities and combined best of them all imo: durability, price and required dimensions. There are few cons like scales doesnt lock max weight and slippery handles (going to sand blast them). But otherwise works perfect.

  37. RH - grippers 20mm block set - 3x2 Standard Adjustable Ti, RGC 122, 3-sec hold on each rep 10mm (bottom)choked - 3x2 Stainless Adjustable, RGC 156 48.9kg/108lb reverse curls - 6x14 Not hard, but my elbows felt better after. Btw I did this with my custom Inch trainer (grabbing the shaft), so that's why the weight is weird.

  39. Heavy and Almost Volume Bending Day This was the big setup session for Horrido 6.5” 10.9 cert attempt next Monday, so of course there was a million obstacles, including hardass steel Warmups maybe lacked some pop but nothing to get in a fit over then it was onto 2-3 170mm R O-1 bends and 2-3 170mm Edgins. First R bend went smooth enough although not the smoke show of last weeks somewhat shorter R. But then parent ESP or something must’ve gone off and I went full rush just to the next R, just re-sliding the wraps from the previous bend and taking no rest (at the time I was justifying it that I’ll need to be ready for 5 straight hard minutes against the 6.5” 10.9) … and alas despite the bend going fine enough I was starting to get slowed down by the crush et voilà off goes the baby monitor. I stretched the kiddo a bit, but it was too tough a spot to be able to get it finished before getting him. After a little rest to fetch him, I relocated to the basement gym(I typically bend in the garage) and tried like hell to get that R moving again and finished off. It was a long slow process but eventually the last two cm gave way and I was able to complete the bend and call it the isometrics for the session as well After fighting that battle I didn’t fret about leaving it at 2 R’s and moving onto the 170mm Edgins. I don’t have clamps in the basement gym so I foot rolled three cut Edgins in a row!!! First one felt like air after the R crush, but the by the third one I was getting pretty worn out and got it quite off center, but I had flashbacks to the R crush and in an effort to avoid a repeat I just overpowered the little guy and got it done (if it got properly stuck I’m not sure I had another war in me). Next up (and last up since I counted the second R as an iso finale as well) was barehand 7” C drill rod. But I was unable to muster any power and only had a bit of wobble after two hits so threw on 1/3 imps and took it down while trying to emulate my barehand style. That was a steel bending session!!!!!!!

  40. Here is a front and back picture. Man, I wish I had not gotten rid of this one. Of course this is the case for about every gripper I have ever sold.

  41. Good question. Regarding the Powerball 400 "Hulk" gripper. We have rated 100 of them at this time. The average is 195. The minimum is 176 and maximum is 209. We have rated very few of Grip Genie Level 7. Grip Genie has not had a large enough supply yet that they could provide us with very many. However I will say that for the few examples we have rated, they are proving to be harder than the Powerball equivalent on average. They have been 212 average with a minimum of 208 and maximum of 216.

  42. NON-GRIP RELATED Had to wear a suit to work this morning. Apparently I'm getting an award later today. Don't know any more than that...just a crytic email asking me if I was planning on coming in-person and could join a luncheon before the ceremony. Anyway...the REALLY BIG NEWS is my suit pants finally fit again. (Like "legit fit"...not squeeze into them and hope I don't pop a button or split a seam.) Makes me feel like I've finally made some real progress undoing four years of wearing lounge pants and DoorDashing fast food while working from home. Taken some work but feeling pretty good this morning.

  45. The first time I bought grippers I bought the CoC 1 and 2. I had read somewhere, most likely here, that most people could start with 1, with 2 as a goal if you've done manual labor. My dad drove me to pick them up at the post office and the both of us could close the 1 and 2 without setting or anything. I have brought a CoC 2 to work and no one so far has been able to close it, did bring a .5 also and all the guys could close that and one 20ish woman

Feeling nothing like it as I participated in 24hr rollathon at my Bjj gym overnight last night. I was feeling a bit knackered so just decide 1 max set on farmers hold would hopefully be enough . Surprised with 60 secs as that was what I was hoping for in the comp. Didn’t have much of a clue as to where I was at with the cone lift. Obviously started a bit low but have taken a note & so have a better starting point for next sess. All in all a half decent sess. Got the work done & got out. Got a couple of goodies in the post today .

  47. Inch trainer RH - 2x1 71.4kg/157.4lb level lift This is probably my first time lifting it above 70kg, and it wasn't tilted at all. I've tried a third set as well, but I couldn't do it. Based on my experience, I can get quite a few near-max pinch attempts in one session, but there are not many chances with one-handed thick bar. 2-3, and then byebye, try it again another day. - 2x1 68.9kg/151.9lb level lift, 2-sec hold on top - 1x1 68.9kg/151.9lb slight tilt lift - 3x1 66.4kg/146.4lb level lift, 2-sec hold - 1x4 61.4kg/135.4lb level lift LH - 4x1 66.4kg/146.4lb level lift, 3-sec hold on top - 3x1 66.4kg/146.4lb level lift - 1x1 66.4kg/146.4lb tilt lift - 1x3 61.4kg/135.4lb level lift Both hands this week, because I'm not doing blobs this week (skin on RH thumb needs to heal).
