This does not mean that you have to share anything though, this is completely voluntary! If you wish to keep the ratings of your grippers a secret, you are free to do so!

How to Make an Offer

• Offers should be submitted to thegripboard@gmail.com. All offers should be in USD. In addition to your offer we will require contact information including full name, address and phone number.  
• Please only submit offers you are ready to close. If you need to talk to a spouse, see more pictures, or ask questions; do that before placing an offer. Accepted offers will be required to sign an "as is" bill of sale. 
• You may submit multiple offers. For example, you may offer $X for Lot 1, $XX for Lots 1-3, or $XXX for everything. Include any preferences about what you would like the most. We will not break up the individual lots so please only make offers for any combination of Lots 1 through 11. 
• Offers must be actual figures chosen by you and not "would go up to" amounts or offers such as "the highest bid plus $5". You must offer a set dollar amount figure. 
• We strongly encourage you to put your best foot forward. No direct feedback on offers will be provided as this is not truly an auction. We simply want to work with real offers from real people who would like these collector items. For those who have asked, we estimate the minimum value of back-ups at $300 and certification grippers at $500.

Posting the original announcement well in advance of the sale produced exactly the kind of feedback and questions we were hoping to get. We have had a chance to address many of them and have a couple more updates below.
 

A Change to Lot Choices 

We received numerous suggestions about how the lots are structured. So many, in fact, that there was very little overlap and clearly no way to make everyone happy. But there is one change we feel makes sense. The second back-up will be pulled off Lots 1-3 and used to form a mixed Bonus Lot 11. This change makes Lots 1-3 more affordable and generates one opportunity for a mixed lot which was one of the most common requests. The new Lot structure is as follows:

Lot 1: Mash Monster Level 1 certification grippers and 1 back-up
Lot 2: Mash Monster Level 2 certification grippers and 1 back-up
Lot 3: Mash Monster Level 3 certification grippers and 1 back-up
Lot 4: Mash Monster Level 4 certification grippers and 1 back-up
Lot 5: Mash Monster Level 5 certification grippers and 1 back-up
Lot 6: Mash Monster Level 6 certification grippers and 1 back-up
Lot 7: Mash Monster Level 7 certification gripper
Lot 8: Mash Monster Level 8 certification gripper
Lot 9: Mash Monster Level 9 certification grippers and 1 back-up
Lot 10: Mash Monster Level 10 certification gripper
Bonus Lot 11: One back-up each for Mash Monster Levels 1, 2 and 3.

Not Truly an Auction

Many have asked if they will be able to see the best offers so they know what to bid. However, bid is the wrong word. The offers will not be made public and there will be no feedback provided for submitted offers. We are simply motivated to sell the items to interested collectors. We are not looking to leverage buyers against each other in an auction environment. Simply submit your best offers and we will consider them and work with the ones we enjoy, which may give consideration to a number of factors. 
  

Condition of the Grippers

In all cases, the springs are in great condition. The certification grippers for Levels 1-3 have been shipped, used, and cleaned enough that the springs have a lighter appearance as compared to other levels. Otherwise the grippers are "as removed from service". The handles on many grippers, including the back-ups, bear the marks of existing for 20 years and may have some chalk residue from certifications. A gallery of photographs for each gripper is forthcoming.

How Each Attempt is Judged

1. There is a special MashMonster Judging subforum. Only the judges can see it.

2. Wannagrip posts the videos there when they are ready to be judged.

3. The videos are judged by the judges on a first come first serve basis. That is, whoever sees it and judges it first (the first 3 to judge it) is how the judges are chosen for each video submitted. So, this is completely random obviously of who happens to see it first.

4. The judges use the special "spoiler" tag when judging. This hides each judges votes to the others so each has their own opinions not seen by the others.

5. Each attempt taken is given a red or white vote based on the MashMonster rules.

6. Wannagrip announces the results in the main forum

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT. You must film and submit all three allowed attempts. Sometimes footage is blurry, the gripper goes out of frame, there is a minor rule infraction, the judges cannot find conclusive still images, etc. Often, one of the other attempts is passable. This can literally come down to what moments align with the frame rate of the camera. We don't want all your eggs in one basket. Please include all three attempts even if you feel they are not the best attempts. If you anticipate a reason why you cannot film three attempts, please discuss with the judges prior to your certification.

1) There will be a "quiet period" during December over the Christmas holiday when no grippers will be shipped. The postal system anywhere, USA included, is notoriously bogged down and less accountable.

2) All grippers will be shipped with a traceable carrier. The cert fee will be actual cost. Yes, this does mean cert fees will be higher across the board. For USA this can be registered mail. For International it will have to be FedEx, DHL, EMS, etc, whatever is cheapest and best for the region.

A common misconception is that the USPS "delivery confirmation" with or without signature is a traceable package. It is not. They scan these in transit as a courtesy, but are not required to scan them, and are not even able to scan them on International shipments.

I read the rules, but do not quite understand in English, please tell me how can I get an application for certification?

Please keep in mind this is on the people's own free time.

Rest assured all the tasks will get completed in time. If a month has passed and something is missed, then we probably mucked up and dropped the ball and a PM or email is cool.

• You must be a GripBoard Contributor at any level.
• You must have demonstrated a baseline of sufficient strength. You can either become a certified Captain of Crush through IronMind's certification or close an eligible gripper (IM3, GHP 7, Tetting GM) according to the MM0 process.

If you satisfy both door-openers then you can sign up to certify in the Mash Monster Queue. Each level must be completed in order. No athlete has ever been allowed to skip levels. State your name and the desired level and you will be added to the queue.   

2) Once you have signed up certifications are first come, first served. No action is required until your name is up and your certification thread is opened. Keep in mind that signing up means you're ready to receive the gripper at any time; whether it arrives in 4 days or 30 days based on your position in the queue. When your name comes up, a certification thread in your name will be opened in the appropriate Mash Monster forum. For example, Level 1 certification threads will appear in the following forum: LINK.


3) Once your certification thread is open, you must submit your certification fee in a timely manner in order for the gripper to ship. Payment can be submitted through Cannon PowerWorks. Choose USA, Canada or International as applicable. MAKE SURE YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS IS 100% CORRECT. 


4) When the gripper arrives, you must attempt the certification within 48 hours according to the Mash Monster Rules. The rules are the same for every level. Read the rules carefully prior to your attempt. Don't hesitate to ask questions in your certification thread. A single rule infraction can invalidate your attempt even if you closed the gripper. A recent example is that the athlete innocently stabilized their forearm for the camera during the attempt. This disqualified an otherwise clean close because you are not allowed to touch your gripping arm after setting the gripper (Rule #3).


5) The Mash Monster Set is used for certification. This is the maximum set depth. You can use a wider set or no set to display your strength. Please do not use any setting blocks or cards. 

6) NEW ANNOUNCEMENT. You must film and submit all three allowed attempts. Sometimes footage is blurry, the gripper goes out of frame, there is a minor rule infraction, the judges cannot find conclusive still images, etc. Often, one of the other attempts is passable. 7) Once your attempt is complete you have 48 hours to submit the video for judging. The video link (YouTube) should be sent to Bill Piche via PM or email to editor@cyberpump.com. You must upload an unlisted video to YouTube and provide the link. Publicly publishing a video prior to judging will invalidate your attempt. Witness testimonial is not considered and the attempt is judged solely by the video. Many otherwise acceptable certifications have failed due to poor video quality. Here are some tips on capturing a good video.


8} Also within 48hrs of your attempt you must confirm in your certification thread that you have shipped the gripper back to Matt Cannon. Make sure you package the gripper appropriately. You must purchase $100 insurance and DO NOT return the gripper via Registered Mail or request signature confirmation.


9) Now is also a good time to submit the Mash Monster profile and torso photograph. Both the profile and interview are attached below. The profile can be submitted directly to Bill Piche (Wannagrip) via PM. The profile is mandatory in order to finalize a successful certification. The interview is optional and you can paste the questions and answers into your own profile thread if you wish.

10) Finally, your video attempt will be scored by three judges. You must receive two out of three "white lights" in order to pass. To ensure fairness, the judging is conducted so that any given judge cannot see the other rulings until after they have scored the attempt. Therefore the video will pass or fail on its own merit. The judges' scoring is final and will be revealed in your certification thread.
