I have been asked several times lately about this

My Products – Items in Red were my inventions as far as I know

  • Wrist Thingy – not my idea – saw a picture somewhere on line several years ago – have never seen another since. But as far as I know – I’m the only one who makes them - I certainly could be wrong here.
  • Wrist Thingy with Wrist Curl in one. Just made the “barrel” longer and it does both.
  • Tips Tester – totally my idea – a way to eliminate the hand size advantage of big hands for grip. I think this should be used as a "test" more than it has been.
  • Climber Curl – came up with this because I have limited wrist “turn out” – it seems lots of people have the same thing.
  • 2” Climber Pinch – needed a way to train for the Euro Pinch without cuts or tears on my thumb way back before I rounded my Euros edges and learned more about width. I have since made several different sizes of this. They are currently being sold by FBBC - Thanks Andrew! Andrew gave half his profits to Gripmas prizes - please call him if you want one (or a set).
  • 1” Climber Pinch – a test piece for narrow pinch - a nice test but it makes my finger joints sore if I go that narrow very often.
  • The new Modular Wrist Thingy Pinch Block System with pinch blocks and regular handle – a “training system” for wrist strength in all directions and a different way that hits the fingers very hard. From my training so far I think this is going to really work out well.
  • Napalm’s Nightmare – a double “Rolling Thunder” with 2 bar sizes – Jedd asked me for a double Rolling Thunder – this was my execution of that request. A much better made model has been sold by I think Stronger Grip ??? - I have only seen pictures of it.
  • 3” x 4” Saxon Dumbbell Handle – simply a dumbbell version of the Saxon Bar. I think several people starting making them after the long Version of the Saxon Bar came out – no idea who was “first”.
  • Loadable scale weight simulator. Works fine but I want to make a second version. I've never seen or heard of this before. Brutal hand strength test.
  • 3/8” Two Hand Thin Pinch – a Test Item for the Gripmas Medley
  • ¼” Key Pinch – a loose copy of a David Horne invention
  • ¼” Plywood Lift – a loose copy of a David Horne invention
  • Leverage Squat setup – a way for me to squat and spare my messed up lower back due to past dish ruptures - one of my first ideas. Kody now has one as well - I hope he is using and liking it as much as I do.

I have a few more "ideas" that I'll make up one of these days. Please feel free to make your own equipment from any of these ideas - if you do and come up with an improvement please send a picture along to me with what you like better about it. If you make any of them up "for sale" all I ask is you give me credit for the idea behind it. I'm not interested in any money etc.

I did make a small change to the last set of Climber pinches, I'll shoot you a message after I get a good pic or video.

This is so unselfish of you! There are too many noteshavers these days charging $$$ to even say hello to you.

More people should be like you, Kody Burns and Chez, to name a few!

Picture #2

FBBC's Climber Pinches would work with this if he made up the "base" piece that fits over the bar with a bolt of the correct size for mounting. It's still in the initial stages of training with it but if soreness in new places means anything - it's doing something for sure.

How wide is it? I am guessing 3 inches?

The one in picture #2 is 4". All the other sizes in picture #1 simply bolt off and on to the base (red piece) in maybe a minute.

It would be easy enough to make a 3" one but I choose to try and match the various plate pinch thicknesses.

Ok. You can torque them tight enough so that they will not loosen when you want to pronate and suppinate?

I can't tell but it looks like you have a jam nut on the device and then backed up by the nut?

The most I have tried is 150# and the jam nut system held fine. I was concerned about when you go counterclockwise (loosening direction) but it seems not to be a problem. I welded a nut onto the steel tube - you screw the bolt from the base into that and then tighten the jam nut down.

Yep, the purpose of the jam nut. Good job!

Very nice items! I definitely want to get the pinch wrist thingy!

On a side note, climber curl cane first or the formulator?

I had forgotten all about that - I made my version (quite different than the Original) of the Formulator first - it had a slight provision for my wrists inability to rotate - it was a little better than the Original for my wrists but did not solve my problem nearly as well as the Climber Curl ended up doing.

Don't know if you've ever made another one, but the landmine you made for me a while back was very innovative. Instead of having a large foot plate it was made so that a 45lb plate could be loaded on as the base. Worked really well for me, but unfortunately it was a casualty of the move last year. Sold it as part of my gym lot.

Another item brought to my attention - it was lightweight enough it could have been taken to the gym - looks like I've made more than I can remember :).

I need to have the wrist thingy system in my life, how much does the system cost?

Thank you for all you do for the sport.

I forgot to mention that I also made 2 - 1/8" and 2 - 1/4" loose flat plates that can be added to any of the pieces to add up to 3/4" in 1/8" increments to any of the thicknesses.

Could you tell what are dimensions of tips tester? We have some similar things here in Finland and it could be interesting to compare.

It is made from a piece of 1 1/2" "handrail" (like pipe but no coating) (the outside diameter is 1.9") . To that I weld a piece of 3/8" x 1 1/2" flat the entire length (the narrow side is touching the pipe). Then I take a bent piece of steel ( 7" length) and weld it to the center of the flat as a way to hook a carabiner and loading pin - one leg on each side. This makes it nearly impossible to rotate in use and you cannot wrap your fingers around the pipe so everyone regardless of handsize get the same grip (tips). Length is not critical but it has to be long enough to get both your hands on so maybe 12" long (I'm not in my gym right now).

It is the item at the lower right in this picture.

Chris, you forgot to mention a one hand leverage bar for wrist curls you specifically made for me. Not once but twice. Basically a one hand climber curl but for normal wrist curla not for extensors. It IS awesome

Yep I did forget that one too. The ole memory just isn't that good I guess. I've made a few arm wrestling items also but can't even remember what they looked like. I turned an Olympic Barbell into a huge Dumbbell for Bill one time I remember. I can't imagine lifting that thing fully loaded - I think it was for his son maybe? This is kinda fun thinking back to solving problems for people over the years.

You also made quite a few RGC devices.

Wish I could get one now.

I am too manly to write "Wrist Thingy" in my training log,

I always call it the Rice Wrist Rotator.

Excellent device.
