Ivan Beritashvili
December 15th, 2015 Moscow, Russia Very serious contest, stronger than Moscow Championship. I came 3rd on left, 5th on right, 4th by sum of two hands, under 90 kilo class. Very pleased with my result, after two years ob absence in armwrestling and only 5 weeks of preparing. here are some videos from my preparing: Edited December 18, 2014 by Ivan Beritashvili

JoshW
Awesome effort Ivan. For only 5 weeks training you should be proud of yourself! Also nice isometric pull up

Chops
Wow. Those were some battles. Looks like tough competition. I am hell bent on entering the Maine state championships in March. I am going to try to drop weight. Go in under 185. It will be my first time pulling and there is no novice class, so I will likely get my ass handed to me twice and limp home, but it should be fun. What else do you do to prep?

What else do you do to prep? One thing I would stress to a huge degree is to find an experienced puller to show you good technique. Pulling against open class pullers as a newbie has resulted in more than the fair share of broken arms. I doubt you would want to be out of grip for a few months while a spiral fracture heals. Be smart.

Be smart. Thank you, I will. It is mostly my goal to make some friends to train with. I'm pretty rural and am having a hard time finding someone local. I think I can keep safe and avoid the shoulder forward positions. One thing worrying me is that I have noted in results in local Maine tournaments that AWers that have amature tourney wins and are considered "pro" routinely compete at the lower amature classes. This just happened at the Maine WINTER WARM UP. No novice class, and pros dominating the amature class! Worst case scenario I bail on competing and try to find some training partners while I am there.
