supersqueeze Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 I can't keep a Choker on my #4 gripper. It slips off very easily and has never survived an entire day without somehow working its way off. I put the gripper away with the Choker on and when I go to get it the next time I want to use it, the Choker is off. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions? Mike M. Quote
Clay Edgin Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 What kind of choker do you have? I have had really good success with using large washers from the hardware store. The ID is 1.5" so it will fit grippers up to a #3, and if you want to use it on a #4 you just take a round file and file a notch on the inside of the washer to accomodate the larger spring. They are like $.45 each. Quote
supersqueeze Posted August 12, 2004 Author Posted August 12, 2004 I have the standaed PDA model and I am using it without the range shortening attachment. Mike M. Quote
OldGuy Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 I have the PDA choker. What I do is, after inserting the gripper spring, I push the plate up against it and then tighten it down. This prevents the gripper popping out of the choker plate. Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
MRBeyers Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Make sure your gripper is in the right "corners". Unless you are shooting for the maximum choke, where both ends of the spring are in "adjacent" corners, putting the spring ends in "opposite" corners results in the spring coils keeping the collar from flying off. supersqueeze Posted August 13, 2004 Author Posted August 13, 2004 I did what the Old Guy suggested. It doesn't look like it should work but it seems to be working. Mike M. Quote
Rick Browne Posted August 13, 2004 Posted August 13, 2004 I did what the Old Guy suggested. It doesn't look like it should work but it seems to be working. Try flipping the choker over with the stamps facing the handle top. Worked for mine Quote Joined Dec. 2001
handgripperman Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I have the same problem as super squeeze my 3 wont even stay on any more Quote
OldGuy Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Put the gripper in the choker. Squeeze and hold it. Pivot the plate around as far as it will go against the spring. Tighten it down and release the gripper Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
