Losing The Axle?

Guys I have been forced to do basically all my lifting now with a 2" axle. Now to say that I am weak on thickbar is an understatement but I got a question. I want to pull atleast 300lbs or better with an overhand grip. I talked with Heath some about it and have PMed Bill for ideas but figured I could bring it to the forum for some dicussion.

I can pull 260 or so really hard to above knee level then its like BANG!!! I lose it. I can come off the floor hard with it but soon as I pass my knees its a goner. I can't exactly figure this. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there some shift in the center of gravity that makes this happen?

I have only done overhand deadlifts twice, so take my advice as you will.

I also noticed this, it is probebly due to the axle scrubbing up your upper theighs. If you practice you could figure out how to actually hold the axle against your body, thus helping you hold on.

Try doing some timed holds with about 220 and see how that works.

Jeff,

There are a few other factors but it mostly has to do with the biomechanics of the human body. It can, however, be corrected with the proper training and a few unusual exercises that I have come up with. Email me for details.
