Question About Crs Pipe Thickness And Costs

Recommended Posts

Posted

Is there a specific minimum wall thickness of pipe that I need to be able to support enough weight for a barbell? Also, how much would it cost to buy 7' solid steel pipe?

How long of a bar, and what kind of lifts and weight would you be using?

I won't be using extremely heavy weights so I'll estimate 500lbs as its max. 7 feet.

For olympic plates, get 1.5 inch "schedule 80" pipe, it has a thicker wall than sch. 40, and be on the safe side, and get "seamless" pipe, more money, but still cheap.
