I didn't know they made 50D's. Are they some kind of Pole Barn? I'll trade any of my stock for some of these if they are not pole barns.

Hey Austin, what are the measurements of the 50Ds?

I'm curious to know since nails don't come in the 40D, 50D, 60D measurements out here.

I've got some 5 3/4" x 5.6mm (approx 7/32") nails which someone suggested might be 50Ds

I've only bent a couple of mine but they are a bit easier than my 6" x 1/4" bolts (no grade markings)

I got them at a local trustworthy hardware store. Im not sure the size of a 70d but I have some 5/16thsx7" nails and im guessing there either 70 or 80d's

50D's vary quite a bit just like 60D's, but the last ones I had were similar to an easy 60D, close to a blue...The shorter length throws off form a little...Brett

My partner tried out our stock of 50d's and after a 5.25" blue the 50d was much harder so I would say they are real similar to an average 60d. Ive got some on the way to Jeff Peterson so it will be interesting to see how they rate them as well.

I'm interested too to see what Austin thinks of the 60D's I sent him. I have six kinds ranging frome easy to literally just below a grade 5. I can't wait to try the 50's.

Austin-

I've got a bunch of 50d's. The ones I've purchased are slightly easier than a blue...feel about like TT's. Good for volume, etc...but not terribly challenging. I'm not yet into bending multiple bars at once, but this might be a good strength for that as well.

It's too bad one mans TT are another mans blues. My TT is way under a yellow. Z- how much were your TT?

How much? Or how strong?

A buddy's a commercial framer, so he just steals a bunch of fasteners from his worksites for us to work on. The TTs I have are that make...whatever that is.

I can't discern much difference between several strengths of steel. To me, the 50d, 60d, blue...feel about the same. I don't have a very sensitive "feel."

Also think that the TTs I have are about the same as a yellow.

I bend with a shop towel...and when I use the extra material as leverage, it really dulls my hand's "feel" for the different nails. 60d, G5...not that much difference to me.

HOWEVER--a 5.5" G5 is another matter altogether. Those are a real challenge. I also tried a red the other day, JUST to try.

Don't have a protractor, but I'll bet I got it about 2 degrees bent. Was akin to trying to bend a football goalpost. Not successful. Apparently I'm not quite ready for that...
