Clay Edgin Posted May 4, 2004 Posted May 4, 2004 If these are the ones I am thinking of, they are harder than a red to kink and not quite as hard as a red to finish off. Any way you could post a picture of them? Quote
isaac Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Wait, how hard are normal timberties? I thought they were easier than that. I was thinking of getting a bucket of them but now I'm not sure... I don't think I could even bend a blue nail. My best bend is a 6" 1/4" HRS piece. Quote
FbaLLPlaya_53 Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Normal TT's are around a IM Yellow,Issac I'm sure you could bend a blue if you can bend a 1/4 6" piece of HRS, which is very close to the same difficulty of an IM Blue nail. SqeezeMasterFlash Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Timber ties and 60d are 1/4" not 5/16". What you've got is something different. The easy Timber ties are from Home Depot. The 5/16" nails you speak of are probably what is called 7" spikes. Quote Dwell not upon your weariness, for your strength shall be according to the measure of your desire. Jeff Ford
Clay Edgin Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Also, the TT's you may have are pretty rare, so if you can get more of them, do! Quote
AP Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 Actually their (all TTs)diameter is a little bigger than 1/4" because they are twisted 1/4" square stock right? 60Ds are also a bit larger than 1/4" but neither of these are quite 5/16ths". 6" 1/4 HRS steel is good, its in there about blue level, most timber ties are much easier than this. If you are looking at a bucket you may be able to kink one in the store bare handed. These will probably only be good for volume bending for you unless you can find some tougher ones that is. Just remember: you bend it, you've bought it! Quote Pastrami on Wry
