Steve Baldwin Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 I was fortunate to witness an incredible (and impromptu) display of grip strength on Thursday night and and then again on Friday morning. John Wood has worked up to the point that he can casually clear the Millennium Dumbbell off the floor at any time. The Millennium Dumbbell has the same handle as an Inch Dumbbell but it weighs 228 lbs. John can lift the MDB a couple of inches off the floor at anytime!! John is young and healthy so a MDB deadlift (in time) is not only possible for him but very probable. Amazing!
mobsterone Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Please tell me that someone has pictures!! I have yet to see Joel Sward's lift. Steve Gardener, British 2006/2008/2009/2010 champ, 117.5kg 2HP, Euro 2008 & 2010 champ
Bearcat 74 Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Real Name: Heath Sexton Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
Matt Van Weele Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Nice John! Real Name: Keyser Söze When the One Great Scorer Comes To mark against your name, He writes not whether you won or lost, But how you played the game. You have a gift Roy but it's not enough.
mobsterone Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Rule 4? Maybe not as he himself isn't claiming anything but I'd still like to see Joel Sward and John's lifts just the same. Steve Gardener, British 2006/2008/2009/2010 champ, 117.5kg 2HP, Euro 2008 & 2010 champ
wsm_fan_uk Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 That's not how I read it Steve: "World Class feats in posts without proof will result in locking of the post until proper proof by video or pictures. A witness from the gripboard as well is needed." I would like to add to my original post, that I have no doubt that any feat being attributed to John Wood is legitimate - well done John Martin Smith My Gallery
Clay Edgin Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Nice work John! How close do you think you are to locking it out?
bseedot Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Congrats, John! wsm fan: While what John did is exciting, I don't see how what amounts to a failed attempt constitutes a rule infraction. I can close a COC #4 to 3/4"- is this a violation of rule #4 as well? I can't be sure without looking back, but I don't think that Joel's thread was locked when his partial rep was reported. But you can bet that when it's reported that John or Joel or anyone else stood up with it all the way, I'll want to see a picture of them standing proudly with it in their hand. By the way, I think I still have a copy of the video of Joel's attempt. I'll get it to Bill. BC. The cure for boredom is curiousity. There is no cure for curiousity.
ishred Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 what is the "inch" dumbbell? What is the handle like on the Millennium dumbbell? is it different from a normal dumbbell? Lifting 200+ with one had doesn't sound impressive to me. So I would imagine that this thing has a thicker handle. 2005 goals Crush #3 and mm1
Bill Piche Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Another thread closed yet again due to the rules of no proof.
Bill Piche Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Rule 4? Maybe not as he himself isn't claiming anything but I'd still like to see Joel Sward and John's lifts just the same. This makes NO difference who is claiming it. Often, it's never the person who did it who makes the claim.
Bill Piche Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Guys, someone saying and claiming to see someone lift the MDB at any time off the floor is World Class and does not constitute a "failure".
Bill Piche Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Just wanted to add, this is not World Class. It is ALL time best IMO if it's the case he can lift it any time. Congrats to John!
