Newbie To Grip Training

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm fairly new to grip training. Right now, I'll do some grip work at the end of my normal lifting program.

I'm kinda just experimenting. I do barbell holds, i'll put a handle on a lat pulldown machine and do single hand holds for time (probably the same effect as dumbbell holds) and i'll also do some pinch gripping.

I'm gonna order some coc's soon to help with my crush grip.

I don't have any real questions, I just want to know what your routines look like, and get some new ideas.

Thanks

Billy

:D Welcome, to do grip training is to do something you will find quite rewarding once your strength begins to go up. You can do various things for your grip. I would suggest you go to the IronMind website and look for the Brookfield grip tips he offers an amazing amount of things to do and will spark your own thinking process on what else you might incorporate yourself. I myself enjoy the farmers walk for supporting grip and overall feeling of getting stronger. Then of course there is the various pinching exercises and of course the CRUSH. This can be developed by using one of the COC's or hanging from a chin-up bar for time. Thick-handled work also helps. I read where you squeeze intensely whenever you grip any bar during your workout supposedly helps. Hope I helped you some. Be patient, consistent, and work intensely then allow time to let your muscles recover and I think you will do well. Good Luck :rock Edited by python
