Rikus_Khan Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 (edited) Travis, Chris and Ben .. I am holding you guys responsible for making me want to search my house for anything to bend or break! Since I started working my grip my forearms have never been so weak. After just a few hours with you guys I am working the hammers I made by night and the grippers by day. The burning in my arms makes me feel powerful and I want to BEND something preferably 3 or 4 times! I was walking through my house and forgot about what I was looking for then I realized that I am looking for anything I could bend. You guys suck! tmmicklabs Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 ROFLMAO. Welcome to your new addiction Rick. It only gets worse from here. Just go to lowes or home depot and pick of a 3 foot section of 3/16" Hot Rolled Steel. It will be in the same isle as the nails and bolts. Also pick up a 5lb box of 5" 40d polebarn nails. Btw..Don't forget to use protection. Quote
chrisof4 Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 One of the other gripboard members once said that he had heard bending was addictive, but until he started bending he did not realize how addicting it was. He compared it to crack on roids. It sounds like we have a new junky! Welcome to the fold. Have you checked out Bender's website yet? If not, here is the link: Bender's Website You will find a TON of great information for the beginning and intermediate bender. He gives a lot of great recommendations on how to progress without injuring yourself. Also, I see you started a training log. This has helped me a lot. Keep using it and you will grow by leaps and bounds. Keep grippin! Quote Chris Phillips Kansas City, MO 2006 goals: Grade 5 and grade 8 bolt, 600lb power lift series. mmainlands Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 It is always exciting to find a classic old nail or piece of steel around somewhere. You wonder how old it is, how tough it is, and of course there is only one way to find out! I recently found a 60D in the bottom of a toolbox that had to be nearly 20 years old. EricMilfeld Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 Bending is like popping those plastic packing bubbles. You can't stop. Quote
Octogen Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 Yeah its getting bad for me too And once you have a kink in something you get obsessed with finishing it off even if it means losing skin and blood! Quote Don Stevenson Sydney, Australia
gaster Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 I'm in the same boat now. I was just at Home Depot last night buying the big bucket of Timber Ties. Nobody else around here buys those things, the buckets had a ton of dust on them. Quote
nils Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 I can only add to the consensus. Bending is definatly much too addictive. Must be illegal in some way . Come to think of it, the gripboard itself is quite high on the addictiveness list as well! Quote
Rikus_Khan Posted April 28, 2004 Author Posted April 28, 2004 Thanks for the link and I must agree about the plastic bubbles and the kink thing. I have been racking my brain thinking of way to isolate and train the the BENDING muscles. I have his page open now. Quote There are 10 kinds of people: Those who know binary and those who don't!
bencrush Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 Rick, great to have you on the board. You are already a pretty strong bender, so given 6 months or so...watch out! It's more addicting than anything else on the Earth. I even have to use all my restraint to keep from bending forks, spoons, knives, and you name it at restaurants. Quote
