Matt Van Weele Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 I was at Tony Scrivens today picking up a bunch of standard plates he didn't want. Six of them were 25's that were only about a inch wide. Does anyone feel it's possible to pinch 4 25 pound plates that are about a inch wide wide a peice? These plates are totally flat on each side except for a little spot the has the #25. kyle102887 Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Yeah I think it is possible Quote Kyle Howell, from Ohio The best motivation for me is myself, always push yourself farther than you think you can go. You may just end up where you want to be.~Kyle Howell
smitty Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Well, Wade hit 3x35's....that is 105 lbs... 4 x 25's is 100 lbs but a little wider Would be a world class feat, that is for sure... Quote -Smitty- www.DIESELCREW.com "Achieving Beyond Potential"
Bearcat 74 Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Wade and Rob could do it I bet. Quote Real Name: Heath Sexton Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
Matt Van Weele Posted April 26, 2004 Author Posted April 26, 2004 Smitty I think the 4 25 and 3 35's have about the same width. The 4 25's I have are about 4'' across the top. crs9740 Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 How much harder are olympic plates? I have standard plates at work and was wondering how 5 standard 10lb plates would compare to olympic ones. Thanks. -CHRIS Quote
Matt Van Weele Posted April 26, 2004 Author Posted April 26, 2004 I guess it depends what kind of standard ones they are. The 25's I'm talking about are thinner than Olympic 25's and they are totally smooth on both sides. Matt Van Weele Posted April 26, 2004 Author Posted April 26, 2004 I would say they are quite easier compared to olympic plates. I guess the best way to find out would be to get some olympic plates and try. SqeezeMasterFlash Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 I think standard plates are easier. They're narrower than olympic and smooth on both sides so you've always got contact between the plates. With oly plates you have to sqeeze harder so the lips on the inside edges stay together. Standards can slip a little and you still don't drop them. 4x25 standards would still be unreal though. Now 4x25 with olympic plates would be impressive! Jedd Johnson Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 Do your hands fit across them, Matt? I think Wade and Rob have the best chances. I would love to try if I come out there in August, man. isaac Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 My standard plates are sooooo much harder than olympic plates. I can hold 2 olympic 25's for about 10 secs without chalk but I can't break 3 of my standard tens off the flor even with chalk. I think it's because they are painted with this slippery paint. Quote
