MikeP
Last night I attempted to bend 1/4" CRS for the first time, had just been bending the 1/4" HRS. I slammed a 7" CRS (joke) and so I tried a 6" piece and mangled that too. So, I had bought some 5/16" HRS so I tried a 7" piece of that and it took about 10 seconds to fully mash that as well. I didn't go to 6" 5/16" because I didn't have any cut. I am sure that it will be no problem. I did this after tearing 2 decks of cards and benching 275x5,285x4,295x3,305x2,315x1 starting from the chest in the power rack. I got the bends on video. Later all. FbaLLPlaya_53
Mike are you sure you wrote that correctly 7" 5/16 in 10 seconds?
danegarreau
did you get the 5/16 from home depot?
Bill Piche
Ok, what is the deal here. I am no bender, but someone reported this post as pure bunk.
Clay Edgin
Isn't a 7" length of 5/16" HRS the same as the 205k challenge bar? It's a good bend for sure, but this is not the same as the red nail guys. Mike, great work on the bending progress.
smitty
5/16" HRS NO WAY!!! Not even close! We have 5/16" HRS from Lowe's and Jedd couldn't even kink it....
MikeP
Woa Woa Woa guys. Don't even say red. I have been bending for a few months now and I would rate this stuff as hard as my hard 60d nails I've been bending. I think Clay is right, it's a good bend but I didn't want to cause an uproar. I have the video if anybody wants to watch.
crs9740
On strongmans metal chart he rated 7" of 5/16 as easier than a blue. Have you bent an IM blue, and if you have which was easier? Thanks. -CHRIS
MikeP
http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?act=mod...&cmd=si&img=376 I have bent no actual IM nails and I would not consider this bend anything extraordinary, like I said, the 60d I have been bending are about the same. Clay, I should have listened to you on the horseshoes. I bent 2 the first night I got em, and I still have a huge bruise on my left thigh, I should have used some padding. Oh, that was 1.5 weeks ago... Edited April 21, 2004 by MikeP
crs9740
Awesome bends! (and tear) I just bent my first blue last week ( pretty easy), but I havent been able to finish a 60d yet. I'm HOPING that I just have really hard 60d's. Keep up the great bending. -CHRIS
MikeP
I bet you do. Man there is a huge difference in these things. I got a 60d that I bent awhile back when I was just doing easy TT and I've got some 60d now that I have to struggle with and I'm much stronger now, go figure. I find when in doubt, test em. Even if the number is different than what other people get and the method isn't the same, at least it gives you a reference for your material so you know if your new stock is harder or easier. Good bending too, sounds like you've progressed well. Edited April 21, 2004 by MikeP
David Ostlund
All of the 7x 5/16" HR that I've tried, I have kinked but never finished.
