Ray Hansford Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 Anyone know what kind of training routine Kinney used between the #3 and #4? Or a link to it? Quote Ray Hansford Current PB's 15 reps #2 1 rep #3 "If you think you can-You can, If you think you can't-You can't. Either way your right"
Matt Van Weele Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 I'd buy his video if I were you. Trust me. I wasn't going to get it and once I saw him destroy a #4 I would have bought it just for that. Monte Cristo2 Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 Anyone know what kind of training routine Kinney used between the #3 and #4?Or a link to it? Here is some material : Joe Kinney Says..., Working The Wrist And The Grip http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtopic=6186&hl= How Often Did Joe Kinney Train? http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtopic=5817&hl= "Wannagrip Posted: Nov 13 2003, 11:55 AM The interview is no longer in the book. I did not want to confuse what KTA is and how Joe trained. They are not even close. He trained 2 times per week for example. KTA is a 6 day per week, often more than one workout per day. Another example, KTA is done with grippers only. There's no machines specified in the program examples. Joe used a wrist roller, floor grip machine, and the secret weapon." Joe Kinney http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtopic=4453&hl= Bearcat 74 Posted: Jun 9 2003, 04:42 PM "--QuoteBegin--Tom of Iowa2+Jun 9 2003, 05:02 PM--> QUOTE (Tom of Iowa2 @ Jun 9 2003, 05:02 PM) Is the wrist problem due to his strenuous training regimen? Or is it an unrelated injury? It was the training. He went REAL heavy, I mean REAL heavy. His intensity was unreal too, there were no off days, no whining, he just poured the coal to it." Picture of the secret weapon http://www.cyberpump.com/albums/album02/aat.jpg (Joe Kinney did heavy negatives with the above) I don't know how bad Kinney injured himself in the process of his very intense training, but I have read that he was using a large volume of heavy negatives in his workouts. (Like 50 reps. per hand) By everything I have read about him, he was very intense and gave 110%. He had the will and pain tolerance to do this. It seems to me, in my impertinent observation, that he did too many negatives. I have not seen any articles that advocate that much volume, in fact what I recall is that negative training requires low volume and longer periods between sessions. It may be that he has permanently damaged himself in the process of his training. Kinney is unusual, if not unique, No one closed a #4 the way he did and he is not a Huge man. He would have worked with insane intensity because his will allowed it, even demanded it. Quote
jad Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 The Captains of Crush book from IM has a good section about Kinney's training and as others have said the video is well worth it. Quote Proud member of the Feat Cheaters Club! Captain of Crush 2003-2011 Josh Dale Wentzville, MO

Sybersnott Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 Kinney's training was SO intense that sometimes he'd vomit on himself!!
