chrisyohe1 Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 Hey everybody, This is my first post. First I want to say you guys have an awesome board. I look at a variety of forums on different things and the gripboard is the best overall forum I've seen. Truly inspiring. Keep up the good work. Second I have a thick bar question. What's a good long term goal on a 2.5in. dumbell, one handed deadlift, for somebody in the 170-180lb range (I'm a rock climber so I don't want to gain too much) with 8 in. hands? I know goals are individual and all that but it's nice to have a benchmark, the #3, MM, the blob, 2 35's, etc. Is the Inch reasonable? How does the Inch compare to a loadable dumbell? I just got 100Lbs to full deadlift righty and about 6in lefty. This was my short-term goal but I'd like a good, reasonable long-term goal. Any ideas would be appreciated. By the way I started thick bar lifting because of the board and I really really like it. Thanks, Chris Quote
Matt Van Weele Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 I think the inch is good long term goal if you really want to work for it. Maybe shooting for the 152 inch would be better and if you get there than you will have a idea what it will take for the 173. Jedd Johnson Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 Having 8 inch hands and past climbing experience, I think you could definitely work to get the inch. You have tools that many do not have. What else do you do to increase your climbing grip? Static holds, crush, plate curls, maybe...? You must do pull-ups right? Thick bar chins? Climbing seems like a very intersting lifestyle. All the best to you. -Jedd- Quote The GOLD STANDARD Feat in Plate Pinching: 2x45s Pinch Get Your Copy Here: How to Pinch 2x45s Ebook Diesel Crew Store: http://www.dieselcrew.com/store/shop
