PinchBlocks Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 I am just wondering if for those of you who have tried finger walking, if you think it works well. If you thought it worked well what was your training structure to get stronger. Thanks Quote
HAMMERHEAD Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 I like finger walking; however I haven't done it in a while. I'll eventually get back to it. I would just slide a plate down the handle to progress. I don't know about any carry over effects to any of the classic feats, but I do know it'll make you stronger. Have fun with this excersize. -HH Quote

foggymountainmuscle Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 An exercise I like even better than figer walking is reverse finger walking. Just do finger walking behind your head. Your fingers will be walking in the opposite direction. My strength has improved in this lift and it is fun and challenging. If you open your hand and close it, the muscle action that brings your fingers together is at work. This is the action that finger walking works primarily. A carry over effect on your grip is bound to happen. Plus I think the exercise is good for general hand health. Vise Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 (edited) both plate and board finger walking are excellent. the plate walks give you individual digit strength but the board walking will set your forearms on fire. add more boards as you get stronger. the reverse finger walking definately looks like a great idea too. the strength gains carry over to both open hand and pinch-gripping feats. PinchBlocks Posted April 10, 2004 Author Posted April 10, 2004 Since I am new to specific grip training what is plate and board finger walking? Thanks Quote
foggymountainmuscle Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 I think I should comment that I got the idea for reverse finger walking because my gains in the exercise were so fast, I felt I needed another exercise to develope the opposite action for balance. The effectiveness of the exercise may come from it's enjoyment though. Board walking sounds like a great idea, never thought of it. Vise Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 John Brookfield can describe it better than i could: w/boards w/a plate Quote Ryan Smith
