bigbuffdan Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 everything has been going great for a while, but when I began bending again, my crush went to crap. Ihave no clue why, before I could close my #1 for 7 reps, but now I am struggling for 1..... How do people whop bend alot work around their crush/other training routines? ------ heres what I am proposing to do with my grip training. (because I havent changed my routines in quite a while) Crush close hardest gripper that I can close as many times withtin a 45 minute time space. rest 1.5 weeks I would assume that I can close my #1 about 15 times in one session if I work hard enough. Bending one week after my crush bend around 1-2 warmup nails, 1 hard nail, 1 pr bend, 1 warm down nail. My pinch will be done as usual, every 7 days pinch my heart out. ----- ok, maybe I should have done a search first, but I am on vacation and am restricted to a time limit on the computer. -Dan Quote
Clay Edgin Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 What style of bending are you using? Some of the big benders like Big Steve, Shrug and Dave Morton use an underhand grip that they say also helps strengthen the pinky and ring fingers and that carries over to their crush. I experience the same loss in crush when I do overhand bending Quote
Thaibox Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 I've been avoiding crush work for the most part lately. I've been focusing on bending. When I do any crush work near bending days, I find that my crush goes down the crapper. If I've had a couple days off from bending(not often), my crush is decent. I'm primarily an overhand bender, and like Clay mentioned, I'm pretty sure that affects me. Quote Eric T AZ we do not rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training
bigbuffdan Posted April 8, 2004 Author Posted April 8, 2004 I usually do bend with an ovrhand style, but have been wanting to try and see if some other styles do no affect my crush as much. I'll give the underhanded style for a while. Thanks! ----- The sad part about my bending, is that the overhanded style is the easiest If my guess is right, then practicing with an underhanded style will eventually take the place of my overhand style as far as strength goes...who knows, I may even have better mechanics to use an underhanded style! -Dan Quote
tmmicklabs Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Bending will kill your crush for the first couple on months if you use the David Horne and Terminator Style. Do your gripper workout first and then immediatly follow it with your bending workout. Do this twice a week with at least 2 days rest between workouts. I've been doing this for 2 months and my bending and grip have went through the roof. Quote
