Florian Kellersmann Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Hi, first of all, I want to introduce me, because, I'am new on the gripboard. I'am Florian Kellersmann from Germany (the first german guy on the board?), 26 years old. I do gripwork for about 2 1/2 years and armwrestling for one year. I was certified for the IM #3 in March 04. At international Armwrestling-tournaments you can give the "Ironhand" (http://www.ironhand.at/index.html) a try. If you close it (5x18kg springs), you get 1000 Zloty (250 Euro). Is someone on the board, who work with this thing? Someone, who closed it? I try it and failed. I think it's much harder than the CoC #3. odin Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Welcome Florian. Have you tried the Ivanko Super Gripper (ISG)? If so, how does it compare to the ironhand? Quote Spoiler Bob Sundin 5'11 and 162 lbs. https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC7AZdUkf0aEDB3ET4UhU3Bg/videos
jad Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 I noticed you can stabilize it with the other hand, is setting allowed too? Quote Proud member of the Feat Cheaters Club! Captain of Crush 2003-2011 Josh Dale Wentzville, MO
Florian Kellersmann Posted April 1, 2004 Author Posted April 1, 2004 I have the Ivanko Super Gripper and I think at the hardest Setting, it is harder than the ironhand. But I can't describe the feeling of the ironhand more exactly, because I just try it one time in the last summer at European Armwrestling Champs. I don't know the rules of closing, but I think, setting is not allowed, but also not so important as for the CoC, because of the different surface of the handles. FrankyBoy Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Hi Florian, no you aren't alone here . We met at the last German Grip Champion-Ship, you remember? I was the guy with the broken 'wing' due to a nasty arm-wrestling experience with my left arm. We compared our hand sizes. Congrats for certifiying on the #3, any plans on joining the MMG game? Ever tried the new IM certification rule? Hope to meet you again! Quote
Monte Cristo2 Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Is that gripper available in the US? What is the price? I am sure the members would also be interested in the information. It looks like the gripper has a straight line resistance like the Beef Builder gripmachine shown in the link below. http://www.wwfitness.com/gripstrength.html The Ivanko pivots on a pin and can be like a CoC gripper inverted as in the photo below: http://www.geocities.com/hannibaldave/Rillapics2.html Or somewhat similar to the regular way of Cocs when held like: http://www.cyberpump.com/gallery/album01/aci I remember a gripper like the Ironhand from many years ago, but with much smaller springs. It looks that this gripper would not be as adjustable as the Ivanko since the resistance does not also depend on spring setting distance form the pivot pin. It does have good heavy springs and the finger grooves look like they would help maintain a consistant position for practice. Quote

nagual Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Supposedly the Iron Hand has a max poundage of 90kg ~ 200lbs which would put it at about a CoC 2? If it's infact harder then a CoC 3 then it would mean that the poundage goes up a lot in the "close". Welcome to the board Quote
kyle102887 Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Hey Florian since you armwrestle what do you think about the match between Travis Bagent and Alexey Voevoda, and who do you think will win the rematch? Also I still think there is no hope for Alexey to Beat John Brzenk Quote Kyle Howell, from Ohio The best motivation for me is myself, always push yourself farther than you think you can go. Florian Kellersmann Posted April 1, 2004 Author Posted April 1, 2004 1. Hi Nagual! The poundage of the CoC Grippers is only correct when you only press on the centre of the handles, but you press more at the end of the handles, then you have a better lever. That is the reason, why most CoC's can't do over 100 kg on a dynamometer. So you can't compare the poundage. 2. Hi Clay, the price of the base modell is 30 Euro = about 40 $ + (five 18kg springs) 25 Euro = about 30$ = about 70 $ I think it's very expensive. When you can do 50 reps with 5 springs a 8 kg (40kg) you get a free one. I will try this at the next occasion. You can get it in poland too: http://www.armwrestling.pl Florian Quote ARMS ARE FOR ARMWRESTLING "Always give your workouts cool names to fire you up!" - Devon Larratt
Florian Kellersmann Posted April 2, 2004 Author Posted April 2, 2004 Hi Kyle, I saw Alexey on the European Champs in Germany 2003. It was a very big competition, over 550 Armwrestlers (70 from Russia), on world class level! Nobody could stop Alexey there, Alexey won everytime with ease. So, most people, who was there - I too - thought, he would be the next worldchamp. And then came Travis... and Travis did it with ease! That's armsport! I don't know, who win the rematch, but both of them are relative new to the sport, so both can increase their power yet and get stronger. I think Alexey has a good chance to win too. Rocksurly Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 Welcome to the board I think the BB gripers come closer to actual pounds then the COC do. Example a COC #3 list as 265lb but a BB Grand Master list as only 220lb yet both are almost the same. Though the best way to tell is by the spring size. Quote
