Stefan, I thought the new rule required a credit card? When I set the gripper deep in the thumb pad like you have, I can not get a credit card to fit in there. I would enjoy seeing you get a credit card in the gap, just to erase any question. -Jedd- The GOLD STANDARD Feat in Plate Pinching: 2x45s Pinch Get Your Copy Here: How to Pinch 2x45s Ebook Diesel Crew Store: http://www.dieselcrew.com/store/shop
Jedd Johnson Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 I wouldn't call it full hand spread. It looks like it had a ways to go to be open full hand spread. patrick Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 The new rule would require you to put a credit card in between the handles then close it or do a total no set. Not to set it to where you think is credit card width. At least that is what I thought.
Tom Black Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 The closes are certainly wider than parallel, and wider than the 1” rule IM had, but in a strict sense the new IM rule must have a credit card placed between the handles. I trained from the position shown in the videos even before the IM rule change and the position of your pinky is not consistent with the wider set, only a 1.5” set. For a man with 7.25” hands the pinky will slip off with the handle at the 2 1/8” spread. I don’t see your pinkies slipping off the grippers at the widest point, in fact, at the widest point on the second close (which is wider than the first close) your pinky is in a great position to apply full power (way over the handle). While I mentioned in another thread that people could skip the credit card for training, you at least need to figure out where the credit card width is for your hand, or if you are trying to show a close with the new rule, use a card. Matt Van Weele Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 Hey Steff when you measure your hand you should have it straight. When it's curled up like you had it your probably 1/4 to 1/2 inch short on what it should be. Maybe more. Strong Man Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 lol only one finger was striaght, the middle, look harder, the only finger that you measure was striaght

austinslater Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 Nice videos. IF you get a chance get a video of a no set. It is possible to no set a #3 with a 7.5" hand. , You guys are definetely strong! Austin Austin Slater West Richland, Wa
Z-man Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 I'm confused, the vids looked good to me!! Nik's set depth was somewhat hard to see, but he's only using three fingers with that crazy pinkie!! Steph's set looked great, lots of power on that final close Those 2 are great sports, they catch a 'bit' of crap from time to time on here, but aren't afraid to take the vids so we can all see and critique. You guys have great potential, esp considering how many years they have ahead of them.

It must be full extended. I noticed the same thing as Matt did.
Strong Man Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 (edited) no its ok, the only finger that has to be striaght it my middle, cause thats the only finger that is being measured right., ok though i will measure my hands again on film, completely striaght. Edited March 30, 2004 by Strong Man
