kyle102887 Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 (edited) I made my own Iron Mind wrist levering device like the Heavy Hammer II Leverage Bar IM makes. But know I am wondering how do I train with it. Do I go all out 6 days a week on my wrists or do I do it 2 days a week or every other day. I am will to do anything to strengthen my wrists (but also not affect my crushing strength). I am doing this because I need them to be strong for armwrestling (I still armwrestle too). Plus like in anything I do I want to be able to be the strongest in this as well. Thanks for your info it is greatly apreciated........Kyle Edited March 28, 2004 by kyle102887 Quote Kyle Howell, from Ohio The best motivation for me is myself, always push yourself farther than you think you can go. Dave H Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 Kyle, I train everthing heavy twice a week. You need some rest days for things too heal up and to get freash again. Remember, you will always be stronger when you are freash. But I will tell you this. When I was your age, I DID DO everything, everyday, and I DID get stronger! So maybe every day will work for you right now. You'll just have to try it and see. Sixgun Quote "That's just the way with some people. They get down on a thing when they don't know nothin about it." Woodchuck Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 Do I go all out 6 days a week on my wrists or do I do it 2 days a week or every other day. I've heard training schedules differ from person to person. Some do well with several days a week, and some don't I guess. All I can say, is I prefer to work my grip once or twice a week. I go by feel. If I work my grip or wrists on Monday, and I feel good on Wednesday, I may do a light workout. If I feel good on Tuesday, then I didn't work hard enough on Monday. If you make gains doing six days a week with no pain, more power to you. I am for heavier weight, less frequently. Quote Shawn Littleton- Los Lunas, NM I have no interest in my own limitations. foggymountainmuscle Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 I agree with sixgun. I'm about your age and I could train all the time and get stronger, but I feel I have gotten much stronger going heavy twice a week. Sybersnott Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Do I go all out 6 days a week on my wrists or do I do it 2 days a week or every other day. Kyle... in the past I would of told you that this is overtraining. Now, I myself do it 3 or sometimes 4 days a week. Go by feel - if you are making gains go 6 days a week if you can. If not, then do less. Try and find a balance between what you consider is too much and if you are improving your strength. And if you quit making those gains, change up your routine. JeffPeterson Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 I use an IM loading pin for my levering however I do it once a week and always try to microload. Quote
Guest gripmaster316 Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Let me guess kyle you scrounged around and got a dumbell, some tightners and some weights? Anyway I do wrist about once a week, however it is very heavy. I find doing wrist workouts on a sledge work pretty good as wll. Quote
Monte Cristo2 Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 I would go with two, or at most three, days a week. Go by how you feel. If you notice that you are getting weaker and it does not pass quickly, back off on your volume. That is a sign of overtraining. Also if you overtrain you are more susceptible to injury. Quote
nagual Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 I guess it depends on the volume and your recuperation ability. I train leveraging almost everyday, but I only do 1 isometric set and some negatives. If you would train for strength endurance, I would also suggest 2-3 times a week as probably optimal, but if you only need limit strength, then microload everyday and/or timed holds, short workouts. David Ostlund Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 I do wrist work twice a week with a sledgehammer after sub-max bending sessions. If you are not bending, I'd say work your levering about 3 times a week but closely monitor your crushing strength to see how it is affecting it. Quote
