David Ostlund Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Ironmind has posted on their site a list of rules for acceptable bending styles and other stipulations for those attempting to certify on it. Terminator's rules for certifications through the Gripboard state that the hands are allowed to touch the chest during the bend. Ironmind's new rule makes no mention of this. For those that have certified on the Red, do you know what Strossen's position on this issue is? Quote
Bill Piche Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Depends on who the person is and what date it is. I couldn't resist. Quote
terminator Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Dave, I'm quite sure that it is permissible to have the hands touch the chest. I spoke with Randy about this several times, and what he's trying to prevent is bending the nail over a bodypart such as a leg (or shoulder if someone were gumby-like) or jamming one end of the nail into the body and pulling down on the other end of it. Your style looks fine and dandy IMHO, although I don't claim to speak for IM. Quote Real name: Pat Povilaitis
strongmitts Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Looks like you might have to crush 'em down a little further to satify the "U" requirements. Quote Real Name: Chris Caffery
chrisof4 Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 The IM rules seem okay, but I think the requirement for the nail to be in a true U shape is somewhat vague and open to interpretation. Does this mean the ends of the nail must be parallel? I prefer the rules here on the gripboard that specify how far apart the ends must be (2"). Then there is no question of whether the nail is bent enough. Just my 2 cents! Quote Chris Phillips Kansas City, MO 2006 goals: Grade 5 and grade 8 bolt, 600lb power lift series. Clay Edgin Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 I wouldn't read too much into the "U" requirement. If the ends of the nail aren't exactly parallel with each other, I doubt you'd find a single person who'd say anything. Quote
OldGuy Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 U or V shape, but not W Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
Thaibox Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Is there no measurement requirement for IM? ie: 2" Quote Eric T AZ we do not rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training
mANVIL Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Don't worry IM will probably clear things up with an update in a few days stating that the ends of the nail have to be a "credit cards width" apart before counting as a legit bend.
